330i M-Sport on order
I placed my order a month ago the last week of March and have been advised by the Main Dealer that it’s production will commence next week with an anticipated ready for collection mid-May. Here’s hoping!
After much thought after two oil burners on the trot decided to go petrol. Will much miss 60mpg at 70mph but it will be good to hear a nice tick over on idle but will not miss the smell of diesel on my hands on a fill up! The spec:- Portimao Blue M Sport Braking System M Sport Differential Lumbar Support Oak wood trip dash Parking Assistant HK speaker system Tech package M-sport plus Package Driving Assistant Professional Steering wheel heating Extended Storage NO sliding glass roof! Had it on three cars in succession and never used! Just defeats aircon but no doubt ideal for smokers! It is a blow that BMW have gone for ‘Package’ selection of extras and not by individual items. MB have gone the same way. Collusion? But they say it’s due to environmental reasons. We have a lot to thank the environmentalists for! It’s just pay up all the time, it’s good for us! This being my forth BMW I guess I am hooked! I tried to do a break and go MB but when the Salesmen after a deal of conversation told me he thought that BMW drove better(!!!) I decided to stay with BMW. A slip of the tongue, but it probable cost him a car! |

My car took three weeks from leaving the plant until it reached my house.
I don’t think you will be disappointed with your car, it’s a nice spec you have ordered. |

Isow; Thanks for the info! So my car more like end of May rather than mid.
At one time cars used to go from the docks straight to a BMW facility at Hatfield, York's for checks and removal of the suspension chocks. Does this still happen? Also, it was said for staff testing of M cars in their car park! This bit can't be true of course! |

The package selection is largely down to the new WLTP emissions rules. Under the old rules NEDC rules there was little requirement to test the effects of additional equipment either for weight or electrical demand (and thus load on the alternator). The new rules are quite different and require some level of testing for all options. This is a real pain for manufacturers that have traditionally had long options lists. To simplify things they group options together.
While this might be irritating to some it should be quite good for the second hand market as it should mean you are less likely to find really weirdly specced cars. A classic one I saw a while back was full individual paint and interior but with base stereo and halogen lights. Anyway congrats on the order, that should be a pretty nice car when it arrives. |

I quite agree that on the secondhand market you do get some very strangely specced cars. At least with the BMW arrangement of extras I was able to spec out the sliding glass roof but not so with the MB arrangement of packaged extras where I was unable to spec out, at least not on the C class. I was going to have to pay serious money for something I had no use for! Another thumbs down for MB! NB At least I hope I have specced it out as you never know what’s going to turn up! Which leads me on to the axe to grind which I have about the lack of knowledge Main Dealer Salesman seem to have of detailed knowledge of the extras available or even the inclination to discuss one by one. I always seem to know more than they do! Lots of rhubarb about the actual car but they very little about the extras which have always lead me to believe they get commission on the car not the extras. This is my opinion after having bought four new BMW’s. Yet these Salesman profess to be professionals, they don’t know the meaning of the word! But a car salesman is a car salesman whatever! |

You can get the order number from your dealer and ask the BMW online Genius the status of your car. You can follow it through the production process. |

A week: Southampton to delivery! Perhaps they no longer go to a central depot first, actually it used to be Thorne not Hatfield, nr Doncaster, both near each other. I will check out BMW Genius. |

I used to contact the Genius nearly everyday when the car had left the plant. From what I could gather my car had just missed a ship in Braemargen and then had to wait a good few days for the next one. Delivery times are dependent on so many factors. |

BMW emailed me to say that production of my car will commence on the 5th May (ordered 22nd March) and they are yet to get back to me on my query of an anticipated delivery date to the Main Dealer.
Yet the MD advised of mid May for collection! Hard to believe anything a MD has to say! |

Perhaps ‘production of my BMW will commence on the 5th May’ was somehow a mistranslation from the German of shipment from the docks? But who knows? Good job I’m a patient sort of chap! and after all this Remain business I think I’ll just go back behind the sofa! |

Excellent news! Am sure when it arrives it will be worth waiting for if my road test is anything to go for!
Wish mine was as good! My 330i ordered on 22 March is still in Germany in ‘storage’. Muddy field? No! No! Cannot Be! Cuxhaven is one of the ports used by BMW and checking out Google Maps there is a facility run by ‘BLG’ which has a huge car park at the docks. The BLG website the ‘carpark’ is in fact a huge 6 storey building with parking on the roof! Must be 1000’s of cars! If that is where my car is then my anticipated delivery of 27 May could be a tad optimistic! |

I am 100% sure you will be pleased and Portimao Blue is a great colour.
Still getting to grips with the car and had issues setting up connected drive but all sorted now. I had the F30 before and the G20's Tech is light years ahead. The only negative so far is the lack of boot space under the boot floor = none !!! |

I would be happy with 29/30 mpg about town. I can recall my early E90 320i when I would be lucky to get 27 mpg on the motorway!
Still no signs of my 330i M-Sport, it was due for delivery this week! I guess in this case no news is bad news as the Salesman is not answering my emails ( not that they ever do!) and seems to be lying low! When ‘phoning, he’s ‘on the ‘phone’! Oh! So professional and how much am I paying for this car? |
