Maybe outside temperature can be a thing?
It worked for me at 5* Celsius as you can see in the picture. In sport mode.

I tried at 49F too a few days back. But I was in sport individual mode then too. I might try it today if the conditions are right. Ill be in sport mode. Its around 33F here. Let me check and report back

Tried it out just now. Outside temp was 33F. Car was sufficiently warmed up (driven for more than half an hour and engine temp was midway between hot and cold).
Put car in sport mode, turned DTC off, gear shifter in M/S, brake pedal to the floor and throttle to the floor (past kickdown button). Car revved to just over 3000 rpms but there was no launch control or checkered flag indication at the bottom of the live cockpit. So my car definitely doesn't have it. Car has done 3300+ miles.

Wow... so many different ways are being explained. All I did was move the shifter into manual turn off traction control press down on the brake and put the pedal to the floor. I never thought a 4 banger would rip out the hole like it did😁😁💜
