for the M track days, do they rotate drivers so that everyone gets a lap or two directly behind the leader?

on the non-M track day that i attended, we rotated through the 4 cars that followed the pro / leader (driving an M3). i was able to hit 110-115 in a 330ix on the back straight at summit point (WV) when i was directly behind the leader. unfortunately our group had 2 nannies that wouldnt drive above 65/70...

You get 3 laps total per car and drop back a position after each lap then come in and switch drivers. Not sure if that makes sense.

My partner and I both hit 143 MPH today at COTA in the M5, digital readout

Think around 135 in the M4, analog speedo

LOT of fun, wasn't expecting it, but M5 was my favorite.
Mainly the way it handled, besides the power. That is one PLANTED car.

Any other 2019 M Track Day details you can give?

Was at Cota this afternoon. Same setup as last year. Drags to the stop box, short Autocross, and 2x three full lap sessions per driver. M4 & M5 on the full laps, X3M, X4M, M850, and M4 on the drag. OG M2 on the Autocross. You also get a hat and some food.

Still only as fast as the slowest guy in your group which can be rough...

M5 is a beast...

OG M2 still just a blast to drive...

Shift knob on the M850 was a little interesting...

That’s about all I got

Still give those cones to the top 3 drivers?

Last year I was .1 seconds away from #3. I was so pissed off on the ride home lol for something as simple as a piece of plastic cone

Oh do want to add that they mentioned bmw will be announcing a couple more classes later this year both at Thermal. One being a race license class and the other to be able to drive their factory customer race cars. I’m so in on their race cars one, that would be insane.

Nope, just one cone to #1. But they did give me (I was 2nd) and the guy in 3rd a touching moment of recognition.

Also went today and had a blast! Thought the m5 was surprisingly fun but I still preferred the m4 comp on the full track. Hit 154 on the back stretch in the m5 and almost got taken out by the guy behind us who couldn't get the car slowed down in time. My group was slower unfortunately and so half the laps were at 6/10 pace until I was shuffled to the front and got to push hard. We kept having to let other groups by... I think if they grouped us by prior experience it would be perfect. Instructors were all awesome. Overall was really fun with the variety of cars and events. A few more laps would be amazing but I'd still do this again hands down. I took a bunch of pictures and videos, will edit and upload soon!

This is why you need a group you know to go with. First year I was fortunate to tag along a friend's group that had experience. Second year we did different days due to scheduling. Tried to get the same group for this year but nobody wanted to go with the price hike.

Totally agree, couldn't get my friends to rally for this year after the price bump. We should get together a group next year!

What's up with the soapy car pictures? Do you get a free run through a foam cannon or something along the way?
