G20 Winter wheel and tire thread - post your setup!

Ok the winter season is fast approaching so let's use this thread to document how to go about winter mode on the G20. Hopefully this helps people figure out what fits. Post your setup!

I just installed my kit and I think it is FANTASTIC. Highly recommended for a performance OEM look. I bought via Tire Rack for a little under $2k pre-tax including TPMS. Installed without any issues, perfectly balanced, and tires seem to handle quite well even in today's dry 60F weather here. I live up a bunch of hills and drive in typical cold wet conditions with occasional snow and will also do some trips into the mountains. My car is an xDrive.

MSW (OZ) Type 73 wheels, 5x112
Centerbore 72.6(?) Hub center rings included for BMW 66.6, fits snug
19 x 8 ET30 square setup
Wheel bolts included look like a slightly larger cone seat than OEM bolts so I used them (although they're silver)
BMW center caps fit perfectly

Pirelli Sottozero 3 performance winter tires
Size 235/40/19 (1.2% taller than OEM square setup)

This setup compared to OEM by the numbers pushes toward outer fender by 2 mm in the front and sits at the fender the same in the rear although looks like a couple mm pushed out.

Bolt torque 103 ft-lb
Tire pressure 38 PSI all around

The pics...

Looks great! I was very curious about the fit with the slightly different offset (32 vs 27/40) on those MSW wheels and the wider tires. Your pix confirm it. Nicely done. Especially appreciate the clearance pix and confirmation on wheel caps - I couldn't find any info to confirm how/if those would fit. Awesome.

I hope to add my own pix soon...

Looks great! Would those 235's fit on stock square setup rims? I was gonna keep the stock 8" for winter and shop for rims that could support wider tires for summer. Wouldn't mind putting 235's for winter.

This is Rial x10 18*8 ET30 all around and studded hankook ipike rs2 in 225/45. Front is 3mm inwards and the rear is 3.65mm outwards. Looks very OEM.

Bmw 18" 796m

I'm pleased to confirm that the OEM 18" 796M set will indeed fit a M340i with the HP Tire & Cooling (ZTK) package.

Ordred them from my dealer. Took 4 business days to arrive. $2,4xx out the door, including dealer installation and storing the off-season tires. I've only driven on them for about 25 miles, but the ride quality is improved. Especially with temps in the 50's today, the P4S's were getting hard. Less crashy over bumps, and feels just as responsive in normal driving. Smooth and quiet at 75+. I'm very happy with the results.

Before (yesterday), 19" 792M with Summer Michelin PS4S...

Front...

After, 18" 796M with Pirelli Sottozero...

Front rotors don't look much different than with the 19's. Calipers are close but they're no tighter than with the 792M's.

I ended up getting a set of OEM replicas (with BMW center caps) in satin matte black. 19x8.5 225/40/19 square set up that will clear the ZTK brakes. I went with you my tried and true Pilot PA4's. I love those tires and didn't want to make a mistake.

Here are the wheels I got.

You sure you have the cooling package? The brakes look the same as the m340i sport brakes. If I had known 18" would fit, I would have ordered cooling package which comes without the spare. Instead, I had to pull all that crap out, store it in my basement, and spend $300 on a new floor liner for the trunk. And I didn't even get the additional cooling or even larger brakes! BMW does a poor job explaining packages.

Unless the factory made a mistake, yes. I haven't measured the size of the brakes, but the "Cooling and HP Tire Package" for $1,500 is listed on the Monroney. I definitely have no spare, the mobility kit, 792M wheels, & PS4S tires that go with it.

Edit... Took a peek under the front, ZTK oil cooler is definitely there too

You did not want to buy another set of wheels for your winter tires in 18" ?

Smart question I like to know too for economic reasons. Let's not get overlying excited about the type of tires and rims but the sensors could/may be different and require coding or relearning. Or even partial incompatibility.
