Not last night. Besides, they always do really well after the break.

Sports really sucks right now. NFL and NBA are locked out. Baseball is baseball. Used to be a huge baseball fan but lost interest throughout the years. Don't watch Sportscenter now because there is nothing to catch up on and they fill the show with useless content.

End rant...

Don't see a MLB thread...

What a reversal of fortune between the Red Sox and Devil Rays? Red Sox choked tonight and most importantly, their huge lead in the wild card. While the Devil Rays performed the exact opposite.

I don't know about you guys... but I haven't had such a good time watching baseball on my couch in a very very long time... It almost felt like I was watching football. 3 games on simultaneously all with implications.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Last night was a great baseball night. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. Boston and Atlanta complete their historically epically bad implosions and the games played (NYY/TB and BOS/BAL) were great. I laughed so hard when Longoria's homer found its way over the fence.

It would have been nice if Texas would have lost, but oh well.

Looks like we've got to take care of the Yankers. Hopefully that doesn't prove to be too difficult.

To be honest, I don't expect much out of this Tigers team in the playoffs. Back in '06, we had a rotation we could lean on and we were the underdogs. This year, we've got two starters to lean on, and that's it. We've got three good guys in the bullpen (Alburquerque, Benoit, Valverde) but the rest of our pen is bad at best.

I don't know if the league has been paying a whole lot of attention to our #2 starter. Since he came to the Tigers, 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA and a .84 WHIP.... Good Lord, the guy is a fucking machine. He runs like seven miles on gameday too; he's like some sort of energy ninja.

Don't forget the lineup we've got. It's pretty good in case people haven't noticed.

The team's got the AL Cy Young, the batting (average) champ, and a guy who is 49/49 in save opportunities. We finished the year with a 30-9 run. The Yankers should be worried. Do I think the Tigers will win the WS? Doubtful, but as long as people underestimate us, I don't think we'll have an issue. Back in '06 we were heavily underestimated. Unfortunately, with the headliners I've just mentioned, I don't think teams will overlook us like they did five years ago.

Actually I am surprised our pitching held up, I think you have the edge in that dept.
I am holding out we just have to much offense and should be able to get at your middle relief. It is so hard to get ready for this series as I am still enjoying the Epic fail of the Red Sox

Are you kidding me...? Expect the most from this team..!! Their pitching is phenomenal. Would not be surprised to see the Tigers in the ALCS.

We have two ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL starters. In fact, Fister has been much better lately than JV has (wow that's a fucking scary thing to say). As I said before, we've got only three good relievers, and only one of them can do middle relief. The rest of the pen is about as useful as dog shit at a wedding.

Scherzer is ok at home, near the top of the league in starts where he gives up 2 or less, but also near the "top" (bad) of the league in starts where he gives up 6+. But, he's generally much better at home, so maybe him starting Game 3 is not an auto-loss.... But then again, he gets his pitch count up quick and that means more bullpen arms come in, which is bad.

Sometimes I giggle when I look at the middle of our lineup. It's pretty good. Too bad we don't have a real leadoff man, nor a real #2 hitter.

Man, Texas really needed that Game 1. I don't see them winning #2 although I didn't see the Rays winning G1.

Ugh if we do get past the Yanks, I don't want to play the Rays. I much rather would have had the HoSox here in the playoffs.
