I've been at this for 2 months and nothing makes any sense. Some cars sail right through the process. Others get stuck at various stages for weeks and sometimes months. It's very clear that some orders get priority and some don't. I've found a car that was built to the same specs as mine (same options and color scheme) that was built after mine, (based on VIN# and prodDate) that is already in the owner's hands, while mine is still in Mexico.

Its funny when people ask for an expected date when their car has already been delayed for months. These are unusual times... just be patient.

I'm tracking a few other 330s that are due to be delivered to my local LA area and am seeing one with a 8/10 prod date that just flipped to "entering assembly line" about an hour ago. So wondering if this is common...starts actually building the day before the prod date? I was under the assumption that it would be complete by that date, not just starting. Maybe I'm getting the build date and the prod date mixed up.

A lot of cars got unscheduled for production so I think the ones that are still scheduled might enter a bit earlier. Who knows tho!

Nothing wrong with asking. But a magic 8 ball may give you an answer that is more accurate than the answer a human or website can give you.

Mine entered the assembly line a day early too. My guess is the prodDate is the expected completion date, not the start date.

Just wondering how long did you all spend within the "quality check" phase? Approx. 24-48 hours?

If your car is "truly" complete, yes. If not, then the incomplete car will sit until they get the required parts in. If you read the various threads out there, a car can get stuck at any of the subsequent steps. The best advice I would've given to myself, would be to stop checking. I just wish I would listen to my own advice.

My car just flipped to in transit. It's on it's way to the dealer from the VPC!

Out of curiosity, would you rather have a 23 m340i?

No. I don't like that rocker button for a shifter

Mine has been in quality check since yesterday - hopefully not too much longer.
Entered assembly line on Friday 8/5 - ProdDate is showing 8/8 for me still.

It's at the dealer. Whoever took these pics must have a flip phone.

I drove by and the dealer left the gate with all the new deliveries open. There's a large transient population downtown. I hope they don't go in and sleep on the cars, LOL

Nice build! Especially the black leather with blue stitching. Hopefully it will be waiting for you when you're back from Vegas!

That and the lack of physical climate control buttons. On the other hand, those screens on the '23 are really gorgeous. For me personally, I wonder if they'd be a distraction.

LCI has auto climate control, dont think youll need to mess with it much.

Fellow NJ resident here. My car spent 33 days in the QC stage (Jun 29 - Aug 1). There really isn't a good answer. I've spent a lot of time reading the posts here, and I see QC stage can (best case) begin and end on the same day, or (worst case) it can take months (more likely if you have chosen an option or package that is suddenly removed from the "build my BMW" on their website. - Harman Kardon, late last year for instance). I know it's frustrating when you see other's builds flying through each step when yours is stuck. Hang in there. If you take random VIN's that you find that are recent arrivals at dealerships and look at prod dates, the majority of them were built in early to middle of June, you may find a lucky early July build or 2, and you'll also find quite a few May builds too.

I called the Genius #, and they told me that my car is waiting to go to the port even though it shows Final Assembly. They said that they wait for enough cars to be ready before they put them on the train to the port.
I'm not sure what port they use because there are 2 that have been mentioned:
VeraCruz and Altamira
There is a ship named Glovis Stella that has shipped BMW's in the past headed to the Altamira port. But using those links above you can check on the Vehicle Carriers that are in and out of those ports.
