You’ll get some slight rubbing during fast/hard cornering on 245/35/19, even with spacers due to excessive tire flex. Recommended upsizing is 235/40/19 for optimal handling and comfort.

I'm looking at wheels that only come in the .5" increments.

There is either 8.5", available in ET25 or ET33
OR
9.5" available in ET25 or ET33

And with either of these, should I do 245/35/19 or 255/35/19?

I'd prefer the 255 tire width just because its closer to stock and cheaper in most of the stores.

I see a lot of the same question but not a lot of replies…

I have 225/40/19 squared setup. Want to switch to staggered without buying new wheels. Is that possible? If so, what size on the rear would work??

Also, any recs on winter tires? They don’t have the typical ones in 225/40

Probably because people have asked the same question a dozen times and has already been addressed.
It is not recommended. Anything is possible, but is it safe? Is it optimal for handling? No….
Max width tire size on an 8” wheel is 235 for optimal handling and comfort.

I looked through 10 pages and no one answered the question lol.

So everyone that has a staggered setup have front wheels that are different than the rear wheels and if you bought a bmw with squared setup you’d need to buy new wheels? That sucks, I guess I’ll have to buy new wheels or do squared 245/40

If performance and feel is a concern whatsoever be mindful that going as wide as you can go for your rim is usually a bad decision.

Thanks I actually watched this vid recently so I’m going 235/35 like the previous person recommended

Im new here… I don’t know if the answer is out there already but from breiefly skimming through the majority of all the threads, nothing definitive came up other then hypotheticals. I ended up just pulling the trigger and getting new wheels and tires since I needed/wanted them.

My current summer set up:

22’ M340i xdrive

HRE FF10 19x9 25 offset
Michelin Pilot Sports 4s 255/35
On stock MPS not Adaptive suspension.
No spacers

I had them put on last weekend. It’s a tight fit but it clears. I only had the chance to drive around for 100 miles or so at speeds between 0-60s in the city. Haven’t really got on it but so far so good. No rubbing in the front or rear. Definitely feels better driving, sticky on turns. I don’t drive on track but I mainly did it for aesthetics and the convenience to rotate tires ever 4/5k miles.

Looks great, though Id say make a new thread since this one specifically addresses the biggest tires you can put on the OEM square wheels

Even After looking through this Entire thread, I’m Still Unsure about which Tire Setup I should go with!
Currently I’m Stock Wheels F(8) R(8.5)
225/40/19 & 255/35/19
(Yes I know I’m Staggered)
Looking for the best Performance setup I can get on The Stock 791m’s.
Currently I’m looking to get: F 235/40/19 & R 265/35/19
Thoughts?
*Edit: Btw I’m X-Drive & Adaptive

I'd say forget using 265/35-19 on an 8.5" wheel. It's smaller than the TRA approved rim width range (9-10.5) for that size, and in general it will be pinched a lot to fit onto the wheel. Heck, the 8.5" wheel pinches the 255/35 to begin with since that is the min approved wheel width for a 255. A 265/35 on an 8.5 will feel sloppy and look overflowing on the wheel.

I'm also looking to replace OEM wheels with lighter ones, it seems Supra 24+ factory wheels are relatively cheap and light. Have you checked other wheels or this is the best one so far?

10,000 miles and in for an oil change and NYS Safety Inspection turned up a small "bubble" in my front right sidewall (probably been there since winter/spring pothole). i never even saw it. that being said, between that and a rear tire plugged from a nail and I am super stoked. FINALLY an excuse to get rid of the crap oem RFT rubber without feeling like im just wasting money.

Bring her into the tire shop tomorrow for Continental DWS06+ 235/40R19's tomorrow. Already threw a portable air pump into the trunk for any minor snafus. can't wait to feel the difference.

Got the DWS06+ 235/40R19's installed friday. Definitely more comfortable than the RFTs. what PSI are you guys generally running? they had em aired up way too much, so i dialed em down to 39 all 4 corners right now with the expectation that as the temps drop in the next few weeks (NY here) that they'll be around 36PSI on all 4 corners.

That’s for run flats. Not recommended for standard summer tires or most all seasons. Again, depends on your tire.

Agree with 36-39psi as a baseline. Adjust as needed and depending on your driving condition and style.

This looks awesome and something I'm probably going to get. I'm also xDrive, but have the Adaptive Suspension - maybe get spacers just in case with ET25 and 255/35?
