They actually do have release notes now.
Most of the release notes this time are for MGU22 cars (not G20).

Huge thank you to whoever posted the `RADIO STATIONS CHANGE WITHOUT CUSTOMER INPUT` SIB 65 19 22 because once i showed them the printout they updated the software manually to 07/2023.27 free of charge!

My issue was: both app and idrive said no update available. installed version on idrive was 11/2021.30.

I've tried everything, i called BMW and got redirected 3 times, was seeing whether i'm on a denylist etc, they created ticket for IT and i called back 10d later to no avail.

Called a couple dealerships and they either ignored me, told me they can't do anything, or wanted $420.

Last week i go to engine oil change at the dealership and beg them to update the software but i get told the usual. Even after i tell them i have issues with radio stations changing but hard to reproduce they wouldn't bulge. So i pull out the SBI, he looks at it 10s, hands it back and says they'll reprogram. Picked it up the next day with latest version.

Unfortunately, (after turning off ASD again), the exhaust sounds exactly the same as before. i headed to an autocross event right after and drove it hard the whole weekend, still no burbles.

FYI - Got notified on Wednesday about RSU 03/2023.67 everything downloaded fine but now it's stuck at "You will be notified when the upgrade can be installed" Will this update eventually install?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Mine downloaded the last update and it never updated. Now it’s downloaded the latest and still not updating. I have charged the battery over night 3 times and still nothing. I am out of warranty now so don’t use the BMW garage as they are too expensive so I am just going to forget about it, never noticed any real difference after updates anyway

I downloaded the latest upgrade many weeks ago and it sat there and never installed. Even took a long car trip (2000 miles) and it still never kicked off. About a week ago I got a message the the update had "expired" and wouldn't update until I downloaded it again. Did that, but now still back to waiting as it just sits there. Obviously it's never going to actually install.

But, I don't think there's anything important in there, so whatever.

I have had difficulty installing OTA updates. Besides having a full battery charge I have to park my car outdoors and set the parking brake. Might try that?

Finished update 03/2023.67....recoded with latest Bimmercode, and ASS remained active. So apparently BMW decided to eliminate coding access to that annoying start / stop. I will say, however, it's the least intrusive system that I have experienced.

Sounds like don't update to 03/2023.50 or anything newer if we want to keep ASS turned off via Bimmercode.

A couple of questions with regard to keeping my old software (XX/2022.XX).

1. Does the dealer typically update the software when the car is in for service?
2. Is it necessary to update the software to add ConnectedDrive features such as Remote Start?

It’s more likely that the cafd files layout has changed. It will still be configurable, but BimmerCode will need to be updated for it to work again. ( just because it’s got the latest data doesn’t mean it will work if Stephen needs to do a manual change )

I updated my software on Aug. 7 and ever since my 340i hasn't been able to connect to connecteddrive and hasnt been able to connect to the internet, no live traffic, unable to update apps, etc. I tried resetting everything in the car and in the process lost all my default apps such as drive recorder. Being unable to connect to the internet I can't get it back right now.

I just went to the dealership and they told me theres a nationwide connected drive issue with their servers right now. Can anyone confirm this? He told me BMW has not released any notices and the situation is "fluid" right now. I should add that I'm in Canada. Is anyone else experiencing this.

I feel like they're bullshitting me cause I havent read about this anywhere and when I called CD last week they didnt say anything about an outage. Dealer told me to give it another week and come back.

Edit: After calling CD they did say there was some type of outage but there is no ETA for a fix yet.

olezheboka - all the sources I have seen point that G20 will not get iDrive 8.5 as it lacks the hardware needed. So no SW upgrade path for existing cars. But it could be that cars for MY24 or the rumoured second LCI down the road will have the updated head unit/processor.

Good news, mine seems to have fixed itself today. I guess servers came back up on the back end. Hopefully other users have had their issues fixed as well.

Mine was also updated at the dealer 07/2023.33 and in MyBmw app it states No software upgrade available right now (no version#). Tried signing out of the app with the same message.

07 is the release month (July)
