Drivetrain fault after *three miles*
So yesterday, after six months of waiting, I finally took delivery of my brand new G21 330i MSport Touring, and.... after driving it for a grand total of three miles, the onboard computer flashed an alert saying that the drivetrain needed checking!
Result - I drove the car straight back to the dealership, where it now lies waiting for the mechanics to check it over.... No specific questions here, just really wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if it is just incredibly bad luck! Reassurance that it won't take another six months to fix the issue would also be appreciated |

Hopefully that’s unusual. Surprised you didn’t hold off for a week to get a 21 plate - or are you not in U.K.?
Anyway hope you get it sorted quickly especially given as I’m collecting exactly the same model a week tomorrow. |

I would contact the dealer and ask them to ensure that all PUMA notices related to the G2* have been implemented beforehand? You'd like to think it would be part of the PDI process 🤔

I Had the same, but 4k miles in. Towed to dealer, was there 5 hours while they took software off, cleared the car then put it back on. Lots of software issues on the G20's, I have had countless software problems since I've owned the car, from traffic light recognition, sensor faults, camera faults etc. Its putting me off I might get rid of it & go back to audi. Yesterday my Amp went on the Harmon Kardon sound system! It's come back on this morning though.

I had the same thing, after a few miles got the drivetrain error. It went away on its own though almost immediately. Dealership just said it must have been a glitch. Have had no issues since (over a year with the car).

Soooo the verdict is in... they have found a faulty VANOS unit and are waiting for a replacement to come in from Germany together with some "specialised tooling" (have they never replaced one before?! this makes me nervous). The unit should be delivered "midweek" and then they will run a period of "extensive testing". They assure me this is "a complete one off".
Any thoughts? It seems a bit rubbish to me! Should I ask for an extension of the warranty? In the meantime they have given me a G21 320d MSport Touring as a replacement car, so I get to drive a similar car and try the diesel engine at least |
