Hi,

I recently got into 2021 M340 NA with standard HIFI audio. While I w as driving, I noticed that twitters on each pillar are gone!

I checked 2021 330 NA interior pictures on multiple southern California dealer websites, they all have twitters on the pillar but no twitters on on M340

I contacted BMW corp asking them about the speaker, and they said all M340 should have 10 speakers as standard. However, I was only able to locate 6 speakers (2 on the front door, 2 on the rear door, 2 subs under the chair). Assume I have 2 on the dash (I don't hear any sound coming from the dash, I doubt I have 2 speakers on the dash), I am still missing 2.

Did BMW relocate twitters for M340?? Does anyone know the exact location of al 10 speakers for M340?

For the 2020 G20 models:

2 in the front door
2 in the rear door
2 in the dash
2 tweeters on the pillars (not A pillar; where the ORVM mirrors are)
2 underseat subwoofers

PS - Just checked out pics of the interior of a 2021 M340i at the dealer here. Looks like it has tweeters. Same as in my 2020 330i.

Hmmm... this cannot be good. So I don't have 2 tweeters by ORVM pillar.

I checked Pacific BMW, Center BMW, SouthBay BMW, Irvine BMW, Beverly Hills BMW websites and I do not see ORVM pillar tweeter.

Did BMW change the location or production batch error???

I took a screenshot from the website of the dealer I mentioned in my previous post. I've circled the part where the tweeter is supposed to be, in red. Since it isn't clear in the photo, I might be mistaken. Isn't the circled part a mesh-like cover in your car? The tweeter in the 2019/2020 models is under that mesh cover.

No . I do not have any mesh-like cover. My friend recently got 2021 330 and he has twitter, and I don't. Looks like all of the listed Southern California dealer's 2021 M340 NAs do not have mesh-like cover either.

That is crazy!!! The screenshot I posted is of a 2021 M340i. Let me check other cars and see if those have the mesh tweeter cover. I wonder if they moved the tweeter closer to the mid range in the front door for some reason.

Edit - Another 2021 M340i with HiFi system at another dealer here in IL. It has the tweeter cover too!

The bigger issue, I don't think my car has a center speaker either. It's not the best method, but I played music in various volume settings to feel the vibration. No sound, no vibration from the front dash.

2021 models started appear on Southern California dealerships in recent weeks, and maybe dealers got the Stereo Sound system setup instead of HiFi setup...

I am not an audiophile, but I paid for 10 speaker Hifi setup. I have an appointment with the dealership to find out on Saturday, but all signs are indicating that I have a stereo sound system setup

Yup. I was wondering if it was the stereo system too. But in NA, at least for 2019 and 2020 models, the base system was the HiFi. We didn’t get the stereo system here. I wonder if BMW decided to go cheap and bring the stereo system here. Let us know what the dealer says.

Do you have your window sticker with you? If so, can you post a pic of that?

I just checked the website and the hi-fi stereo with 10 speakers is listed as the standard audio system.

Check a VIN decoder, www.bimmer.work , it lists the exact equipment the car is equipped with.

Not to be a buzzkill, but I have the HiFi system, and it royally BLOWS.

Yeah. I am aware of that. My last car had a regular HiFi setup, and it was 'meh' at best. To be honest, I couldn't tell the difference between HiFi setup from my old car vs. new car.

My issue isn't so much about the missing out on the sub-par HiFi setup sound quality. I paid for the HiFi system, and whether I use it or not, I want BMW to deliver.

I think my HK sound system sounds just fine....its not anything crazy but sounds good.

I am looking to replace the sub under the seat with a Focal sub though.

HIFI system must include tweeters in front door triangles under the A pillar. Only base stereo system sold in EU doesn't have tweeters. Your car is missing the HiFi audio which is standard equipment in North America.

Which is what is confusing since he is an America and his car should have tweeters unless BMW started selling cars with the ultra base stereo system without informing anyone!!
