Some update:

Confirmed. Mine came with 6 speakers. I was not crazy after all . My Crevier BMW is reaching out to the Corp HQ and try to find out whether they changed the std. equipment features for 2021. This is getting very interesting...

Wonder if they just built it wrong....

A bunch of 2019 330s I remember had gloss black trim and that isn't even an option here.

I remember 10 years ago a Friend picked up a C350 w204.... and he had 3 mbtex inner doors... and 1 leather one ... so mistakes happen with cars i'd assume

After you posted that you had seen others without the tweeters I did some looking and I also found 2021 M340i’s without the tweeters. But I also found them with the tweeters. I’m going to guess it was a supply issue and only affected a certain number of cars. BMW should give you some compensation.

Technically BMW always reserves the right to change equipment at any time, without notice.

I also just bought a 2021 m340i and noticed that mine is also a base system and not the “standard 10 speaker hi-fi” it was supposed to come with as standard. Took it to pacific bmw and all they said was “these new ones are like this” like what!! Anyways, will be contacting bmw USA tomorrow. Let’s see what they have to say. What sucks about the base stereo the most is there’s no amp, so I can’t even upgrade to better speakers.

Moral of the story is always go with the audio system upgrade. In this case, the HK. I have NEVER heard a base audio system in any car that was worth a damn.

Change equipment, OK, but they're still listing "HiFi Sound System with 205-watt digital amplifier and 10 speakers" as standard equipment on the website and build configurator. If they changed the specs they shouldn't still be letting people order them with equipment that isn't available any more (if that's really the case).

I just looked at the website for Pacific BMW (in Glendale) and they have 16 2021 3 series: M340i x2, 330i x8, 330e x6. All are North America versions, all built in Mexico (VIN starts with 3MW), and all have "HiFi Sound System" and "Regular Amplifier" listed as standard equipment on the dealer's website (the pics don't show the window sticker so no guarantee that it says the same thing).

But I looked at the pics for all 16 and every single one of the 330i and 330e have tweeters in the sail panel, while neither of the M340i's do. even though they all say HiFi. I can't explain it.

Agreed. IMO though...they should just make the HK upgrade the "base" system. No luxury car deserves to have a base system so crappy nobody will listen to anything other than AM radio on it.

I agree but we all know that they would simply raise the base price of the car to compensate. Since we're on the subject, the thing that pissed me off about ordering the HK "upgrade" for my car is we're forced to also get the Premium package which includes stuff I may have wanted but the worst part is they REQUIRE the Driving Assistance Package! WTF is that about? I don't need or want that particular package but I'm being forced to pay the $700 for it just in order to get the Harmon Kardon.

Last time I checked when building out a standard 3 series it didn't require you to pay for additional packages in order to opt for the HK system. THAT makes absolutely no sense to me, especially considering how much money we're spending for the M340i.

For 2021 in the US there was no upgrade. HK is just standard on the M340i.

That can't be true. I just ordered one and it forced me to include the other packages. If it were standard on the '21 M340i, why is it shown as an option? See for yourself on the buildout page. It shows HK as an option for $875.

Yeah, that's not true. HK is definitely not standard. Just ordered a '21 M340 and paid to have it added.

Yeah, Driver Assistance Package was required. I thought it was the full leather that made it mandatory but maybe it was the HK. I'm with you in that I don't care for or want any of the driver assistance packages but it was definitely not concerning enough to make me contemplate removing other packages.

Yep, it was the HK. You can order the Vernasca leather seats independently from any other package which is the way it should be. Not sure why BMW forces us to get completely unrelated packages in order to upgrade the audio system. But like I said earlier, the worst part of this is that for a regular 330i you don't have to get the other packages in order to get the HK. On what planet does THAT make any sense??

If only if only. I have a 2021 M340i that I bought for $60k with shit base audio system... my first car was a 1999 328ic I bought for $3k and it had a Harmon Larson system with an 8" stock HK subwoofer IN TH TRUNK.. WTHHH BMW

My dealer (Pacific BMW) said it's normal, the HI-FI doesn't

this is interesting, i found this info, i think HK is a must addont o m340
we're spending over 55k for this vehicle, hifi sound just doesn't make sense

but i agree with you guys why HK package requires drive assistance package which makes no sense
