2020-4 latest maps - issue Europe/UK

Posted in the UK forum too but will ask here incase anyone in Europe also having same issue. Just wondering if anyone else has downloaded the latest maps for their car and installed them with no issues? 2020-4 series of maps

Installed mine and now the Sat Nav is stuck in a loop. Tried the 30 second hold of power button to completely restart the idrive but still doing this. Rest of the idrive is working fine. Software wise I'm on 07/2020

Vid of said issue

When my wife’s 118i was delivered last June it was doing that. It needed to be plugged in at the service centre to activate it.

Well that was short lived

Dealer updated software in Jan to 11/2020, sat Nav maps reloaded.

Now doing it again constantly. Dealer has no idea what to do next

They need to get a set of FSC codes for your head unit - for whatever reason the one for navigation is most likely in a "rejected" state. Do you have esys, or know someone that does? They will be able to tell in a few minutes. There's a few on here that can do it remotely as well if you have a cable

Not got esys or laptop, but do have Bimmercode with OBD adapter. There is an FSC option on there, and I have an FSC folder on my tablet from it

Going to have a go now, I've got backups of all the coding etc from 1st March when it came back from dealer and was working then. Looking on my Head unit FSC on Bimmercode everything is "Unknown" followed by a string of numbers and letters. Some show available, some show not available. Have the option to write, read and check. Not sure which one is the maps

appid 426 is the important one here - if this is status rejected, component protection has been activated, which will mean the dealer will need to get FSC codes off AOS to fix.

So, not sure if Bimmercode is reading these correctly then. Pulled this from my Headunit FSC, and then just what's stored in Info memory. Thanks for the help here so far. Biggest pain now is I can't even reload the maps as the Nav doesn't boot long enough to get the "Update" popup

Attachment 2567878

So those numbers match:

0x17E= 017E0001 for example.

I would expect more than 3 accepted codes for your head unit though, definitely goes towards the codes getting borked up.

This is definitely something a dealer should be able to sort though, they can request the full set of codes for a vehicle through their after sales portal, or failing that they can raise a case with Munich who will connect remote to diagnose the issue.

If your dealer isn't being helpful I suggest try a different retailer ( not sure where in the country you are !)

How on earth does a car manage to corrupt its FSC codes up randomly hah. Software on this has been a nightmare since I bought it. My dealer at Leeds just insists on updating software everytime. It happened on 07/2020 software, which got updated to 11/2020 end of Feb. Which seemed to have sorted it until the other day, when it just randomly decided to constantly boot loop the Sat Nav.

Definitely wonky - after they fixed it , did you BimmerCode before it stopped working again ?

Software update will update ecu firmware, but it won't change the activation codes - they are unaffected by the flash ( think how on your iPhone/android , your apps don't get changed when you get an OS update).

Only other option really is a bad Hardware, but should be covered by warranty

I did my coding pretty much immediately after getting the car back, done from fresh not using backups. So it's had best part of 5 weeks running with said coding and no issues.

Oh it's covered by warranty, just a pain going to/from dealer all the time. I want to go in with as much info as possible this time, and definitely make sure everything gets done!

Going to try a USB C memory stick for a final attempt at a map reload. Try a different port. Anything hah
