11/2020 OTA started rolling out to US X5s the other day so hopefully the 3-Series will start shortly.

Thanks. Android Auto was part of 7/2020 correct? I never received that either so perhaps I'll end up skipping it if they ever get me an update. My X5 does have android auto now, just not my 3 series.

Yes, it was a feature added in 7/2020. Hopefully they just give you 11/2020 soon and you should be set.

Mine is bugging me to update to 11/. I just had it bench unlocked so no way jose. Not paying another 150 quid to unlock or risk having it permanently locked.

FINALLY updated to 7/2020. Absolutely no difference in burble/pops or performance. And I finally have Android Auto!

Yeah I JUST today got notification for it. Kept refreshing the app on my phone and checking iDrive in the car since last year to try and get it. Not sure why such a huge delay. My X5 got it last year.

I took my car (2020 M340i) to get an oil change. They stated that there was a recall needed. I went along with it. Got my car back and right away noticed a change in tune. No more quick shift in sport plus and the noise from the burps were way less. They stated the tune was to prevent the oil pump from being damaged. Trust me, they are de-tuning the M340i. I had them check the car and of course they stated nothing wrong with the vehicle. For those who have not done the recall, up to you but you will regret it you do it.

Is this still a thing (M340i getting quieter post software update)?? I've not been following this thread for some time and I deliberately disabled software updates.
However I'm now booked in for that front wing recall and to have one of the door seals replaced which is falling off! And I'm not worried about the update, did anyone just put a post it in the car saying 'Don't update' ?? Am in the UK btw, not sure if the UK updates are the same or if it's US only? Thanks |

It's a real thing. I wasn't a believer until after they did the brake recall in my car. And I have a very early 2020 build. I still have pops and burbles but I have to drive much more aggressive to get them. I can't prove this, but it feels like they changed the shift points in sport/sport+. Definitely noticeable and it does suck but there's no point in complaining to the dealer.

I still haven't experienced this. Got a software update when I did the brake recall and have not noticed a single difference. Still pops and burbles and shift points seem to be unchanged.

On a related note you can turn off OTA on iDrive. So yeah while it's true that someone halfway across the globe could control your car from a laptop - LOL - you can do something about it, just like I did. Mine is permanently off! Whenever my car comes to the dealer I make sure to leave a note, in bold letters, not to update my software.
That said, I agree that BMW should have at least notified customers of these changes; however it's still not clear why some cars see no changes and remain as aggressive-sounding after upgrading to latest software. |

I have all updates on my 2020 and it drives and sounds the same as day one. No idea what you guys are talking about.
I suppose if there was a change to the sport+ shift algorithm, I wouldn't notice it because I shift manually in sport+. All seems great to me though with updates. |

This is what I call over concerned owners who want to believe.
If you have a case, prove it and sue. Until then, you're Scientologists to me.

Personally don't care for it, I have M340xi MY2021 and I feel it got a little louder after the upgrade (few people have reported seeing the same as well.) I know I'm not paranoid or a Scientologist. LOL As far as suing I highly doubt there's an argument to be made there; I'd be curious to hear the legal argument. Don't waste your money on a lawyer and just enjoy your car. |

MY 2021 (September 2020 build) with extreme cracks and pops before, much softer after. Also have videos to prove it and dealer admitted this was to comply with gradual reduction in dB requirements for EU laws - BMW is taking a one size fits all approach. Nobody is going to win. New M3/M4 has the same issue. As for the Scientology comments; lol. |
