2020-4 New Maps - issue?
Just wondering if anyone else has downloaded the latest maps for their car and installed them with no issues? 2020-4 series of maps
Installed mine and now the Sat Nav is stuck in a loop. Tried the 30 second hold of power button to completely restart the idrive but still doing this. Rest of the idrive is behaving. Vid of said issue |

I wasn't aware there was a new update. I am downloading now and will let you know later if I have the same issue.
My car is booked in with Sytner on Tuesday for a free 1st year check so if it fails I will ask them to reset it if needed. |

I had exactly the same problem with the last update (2020-3), which I put down to an iffy USB Flash Drive. Changed to a new 64GB Drive formatted as FAT32 and updated using the USB-C Port and it updated OK.
I’ve since updated to 2020-4 with no problems. |

Does anyone know if the system warns you that there is a new update to download? I find myself having to fire up the updater weekly and by sheer chance just noticed the new update after it had gone through its "You have already downloaded this" On this occasion instead it a message popped up stating a new one was available.

I just did mine with no issues using 64GB stick. I think you can leave it between runs but I tend to let it complete with the engine running and then restart the nav.

It's quite easy, as already said, go to the Map Update in the Control tab on the Connected Portal or you might have already downloaded the BMW Download Manager.
Open the BMW Download Manager and log in. It should tell you if there is an update based on your VIN. I put my 32gb USB drive into the PC and do a fresh format in NTFS and leave it there. You can use ExFAT, FAT32 or NTFS. Start the download, I usually download to a New Folder on my desktop, so select that folder and let it download. When it's downloaded, open the drop down button and select the USB drive that's just been formatted and it will unzip the files directly to the USB drive for you. Eject the USB from the PC and either plug into the armrest or cupholder USB port depending on type of USB drive, I use USB-C, start the engine, follow pop ups, go to Nav and scroll to settings and down to update to see progress. Took about 20mins to install fully.

I feel your pain after having two 20+ year old lads who think Youtube and gaming is the be all and end all. Thankfully I ditched Sky's piss poor effort at Broadband and switched to Virgins 600mb Fibre and a Mesh system to give me downloads of over 60mb/sec all round the house.

I had issues too but different scenario. Last year maps available to download got freeze in 2019-3 (drive 7 road-map live), this affected more people at least in my country. Emailed Connected drive support and they fixed it some month after. In October 2020 2020-2 version was ready so I tried to install it as I've always done in my F30 and before this in my G20.
Well, the car sends a message that the FSC is not correct for the downloaded maps. Since October I'm in touch with bmw connected drive support but they don't solve the problem. My theory is that they have the VIN changed or something since I contact them the very first time. However the car updates the maps correctly via OTA. Thank you in advance. |
