M Sport steering wheel quality issues (w/ pics)
I just took delivery of my M340i a month ago and have notice around the "10 0'clock" area of the wheel some initial signs of peeling, scratches, and marks.
This is curious because primarily my hands are typically on the "12 o'clock" spot and I've only had the car a month. If this continues to get worse , is there any chance I can get a new wheel under warranty or is this totally normal and I need just some leather cleaner? Thanks! |

This sounds stupid but just buff it out. I have the same wheel on my 530 and that happens sometimes when I valet the car. It usually just rubs off with a damp rag. I know it looks like scratches but it’s always come off on mine when it looks like that. Yours may be different though but it’s worth a shot.
Leatherique works wonders too if the damp rag doesn’t do it. I condition my leather once a year with it and no other product comes close. |

Should just buff out with proper leather conditioner... my stance is that, normal wear and tear, adds character. Wear/damage due to neglect, does not. Yours certainly fits in the first category, and I highly, highly doubt they would replace the wheel. Clean the wheel only using a microfiber and conditioner.
Highly recommend this. Also, smells amaaazing. https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Leather-Pr...gateway&sr=8-4

A dealership will not replace your steering wheel for that. That definitely looks like user wear and tear. I'd recommend being a bit more careful with what you allow to touch the steering wheel. Does anyone else drive your car? Maybe they are careless with it. Or maybe that happened before you took delivery.
Take a microfiber towel and use a leather cleaner to wipe it down. Don't use conditioner or it will ruin the feel of the leather. |

It also smells great, like leatherique basically. Makes a car smell like *actual* new car leather. Not in the weird greasy fragrance added way. Unassuming looking product, I know. But I am very picky about this kind of stuff and swear by it.

Honestly takes some getting used to(what others think), but invest in some nice leather driving gloves.
Will prevent wheel from getting shiny and wearing out, and the improvement in grip is awesome. |

Leather steering gloves in this LA heat, I'll pass lol . I think any driving gloves is a bit extreme, unless you're at the track. But to each his own I guess

I used to, not anymore really. Usually it would be Super Car Sunday at the Westfield Promenade. And once I joined a Malibu Canyon run with a group called e46 fanatics . Getting older I guess, priorities are changing.
