Bike in the trunk?

Can I fit a 29er mountain bike in the trunk with the front wheel removed? (Seats down of course).

Thanks!

I could fit a 56cm Open Upper in my G82X trunk (front wheel removed), but my large Ibis Ripmo could not fit. I forget it I tried with my large Exie. This was a day when my SUV with hitch rack was loaned out.

Yep. M Jet 9 fits. I just sandwich a towel between the fork and the wheel. Use a tarp to lay the bike on. Just don’t ride when it’s muddy out.

Yes, but not necessary. This is a one time thing picking up a bike when I won’t have one of the SUV’s in the garage.

You know… I wanted to post a gif of that, but I thought perhaps it would be pushing it. 😂

I have a pivot Mach 429 - it fits easily but I usually take both wheels off.

Get the BMW trunk liner. That cheap carpet is miserable to keep clean.

Agree and another towel or floor mat type thing to cover the rear seats when folded. This is how I transport my StumpJumper 29 - size S4 (formerly Large). If you don’t have a dropper its gonna be a bitch, but easy dropping the seat and popping the front wheel off. I have a powered sub in my trunk too.

Great thing about this compared to a roof or hitch rack is you can still drive like the hooligan you are, and not worry about the bike.

Yes no problem. Can do two 29ers easily - I do a Yeti SB160 and my wife’s Yeti SB120 in the trunk all the time.

Tarp helps. Roof rack is nicer if you care about having a clean car.

He’s my setup - 1up bike rack and OEM cross bars. I love being able to take the fun car riding.

Thanks! I ended up taking our old Cayenne however this bike (now the Trail 429) is what I ended up buying. Fit no issues in the Cayenne with the front wheel off, which fortunately has a quick release on the through-axle.

Did my first longer ride on it yesterday. Coming from an older hardtail with much steeper geometry and a 2x10 drivetrain, I'm finding a lot to get used to!
