Part of my point was that I don't think AWD itself isn't going to make it numb or soulless. The steering / suspension / tuning that results in that feeling seem to come even on some RWD BMWs. The new M3/M4 may have issues, but I don't think adding M xDrive is the problem.

Putting down 500 horsepower and 400+ ft. lbs. of torque in a RWD car is just too hard for the average joe that's going to be driving this car. AWD is necessary to make that power usable.

And that's the problem, too many "average Joes" getting into these car.

Average Joe's have always been driving these cars. That market has just expanded throughout the years.

The M3 has just evolved over time and become what it is now. More power, more torque, more weight. Something needs to put it in check and AWD can do that.

I don't see it being 4000lbs, i'm guessing 3750-3800lbs AWD.

Are you debating whether to buy the G82?

So basically, 4000lbs.

3800lb sounds right for the RWD M3/4 competition. The AWD will be closer to 4000lb IMO.

Lighter weight, RWD, DCT is what differentiated the M3/4 vs its competition, so yes. I am reserving judgment until the official specs are out, but I am definitely looking elsewhere.

RWD isn't worth squat if you're spinning the tires all day.. This was a weakness of the F8X.
That's cool man but what does that have to do with shifting speeds and how hard/aggressive the shift is? I get that there is AWD but I don't really care for that in cars myself. I'm in Cali and there is no snow nor would I drive my car in it if there was. AWD promotes understeer and kills turning sharpness. I feel AWD is gimmicky kinda and prefer the rears doing the work.

If the awd version tips 3800 lbs, then I'll be damned... that really should make everyone at least consider the other options...

I would agree skipping over the awd and 8at and instead developing the dct to handle 530 hp would have been great. The rear end of the M3 just needed some wider 285s running on PS4s w a slightly more sorted out suspension and it would hve been great... then just pimp the body w CF parts for even further weight savings. At this weight, you are almost defeating the purpose of what this car is to be.

All I see is desperation...

Dull design with huge ugly grills, no Hofmeister kink, no more corona rings, no more design originality...
Let's get them excited by posting a video with our insipid, uninspiring Head of development.

Without passion there is no passion result...
This guy passion is to make sure he is retiring with a bigger pension plan.

Every step BMW takes lately is just damaging the brand more.

BMW bring enthusiasts or you will die!
