Found a new feature I don't know I had

Dropped a friend off in town today - left hand indicator on. As he opened the passenger door the “mood lighting” strip in the door panel changed from my normal blue tinge to a flashing orange in line with the indicator.

Who knew it did that!!

Don't think it's related to the indicator.
Thought it did that anyway when the door was opened?

It's nothing to do with the indicator. The flash is red not orange. It does this on either door when you open it with the engine running. I only noticed it myself the other day when I stepped out the car for a moment to get rid of some rubbish. Guess it's a hazard thing maybe.

Yup, as others have said, it’s just a door open visibility thing in case you open the door in the dark with oncoming traffic or pedestrians.

This is also related to a post a week or two back where someone complained that they couldn’t set red as the illumination colour in the car. It’s reserved for warnings.

You could still change it to red with bimmercode I guess if you wanted that.
