M340i Tuning

Tuning on the G20 platform seems quite unclera and unsure of what the difference of potential of each stage and between the regular vs MHEV versions.

whats the UK bhp power of the below tuning?

Stock: 374bhp
Stage 1: 450bhp
Stage 2: 500bhp

Have also seen claims of Stage 2 running 550bhp - how true is this?

Given that BMW tend to be consistently conservative with their figures (both for powertrain output and 0-60 times) there's no reason to think that you couldn't reach 500 with a Stage 2. I reckon even in stock, the B58 is likely closer to 400 anyway. Litchfield would be the place to converse with about this, as they have a wealth of experience producing bespoke tuning packages, not just off the shelf files. They could also offer a fuel map which will bring back some of the 40i's acoustic potential, even with the irksome OPF.

For those that don't watch Carwow, here's an M240i on a dyno compared to it's rivals. Gives a fair idea how much power the 40i makes from the factory.



If you have the mild hybrid M340i then the ecu is locked and without pulling the ECU out of the car and sending it abroad you won't be tuning the car.
I spoke with DMS and they can't tune a MHEV 40i.

Incidentally I’ve been speaking with DMS this week and they are happy to remove the ecu and send to FEMTO on your behalf (for what I consider a pretty reasonable price) and on its return say they can tune a M340i MHT.

I can recommend a racechip as well. Have one one my mh m340i and has a noticeable boost in shove. Won't be as good as a proper remap obviously but bang for buck is pretty good.

I recently had my DME unlocked and am running Bootmod3 Stage 1 multimap along with Xhp tune and it feels really good , not sure what bhp is but when you toggle between stock and stage1 you can really feel the difference.

Just curious, what does your insurance company make of such mods? Does it add much to your premium?
