Dealer seems to think it could be any day now - BMW told them last week if the car wasn't released to check back on Friday (the 16th). I'm still waiting for further updates. The wait is killing me, it's so close!
When did you originally order yours? How long did it take to go from order received to where it is now?

I placed the order on 6/12. It finished production and was dispatched from the factory on the 28th. I believe it arrived in NJ on 7/22. It must’ve been one of the first waves of the 2020 330’s - I can’t imagine they’d hold them at port for much longer..

I talked to my CA today and he said that it has already started production. Mybmw still says order received. Do they not update the mybmw tracker very often?

Maybe once a day, and even then it seems to lag behind a bit... definitely not real-time by any means.

I only hope it's in production already. Who knows he might just be saying that because I was pretty irritated that it still hasn't moved past order received when it was ordered 2 weeks ago and he was like oh yeah it will be done in 6-8 weeks.

The delay could be because of a recall. There is a headrest issue that could be causing the delay and back up, there is only so much space to store vehicles in port and on the lots. They may need to move out the current inventory first.

There are two other active threads on these issues. There are two seperate issues at play.

1) For cars ordered but not produced, the german plants have been closed for holiday from 8/12 to 8/26

2) For cars that were produced and shipped, there is an active headrest recall that has prompted all cars to be held at port until remedied.

Hope this helps

What I'd like to know is if this impacts all G20's, or just those recently produced? If it's important enough to issue a stop sale, I'd think a recall would be issued for all impacted vehicles. I guess this means BMW has no clue which vehicles may be subject to this recall (which is why they are manually sorting through it, and taking forever), or it's indeed only a small batch of vehicles produced in the past few weeks and "older" G20's are fine.

I suspect it does as supply chains are pretty set. Putting the stop sale on recently manufactured autos allows them to create a definitive list of cars that had the issue addressed and those that haven't. The recall notice can always be "updated" to include earlier manufactured models once they've got the current situation under control. Would not be surprised if the earlier adopters are informed that their vehicle has this active recall once they bring it for first maintenance. At which time they'll order the required part then.

330i allocation is easy to come by, so it shouldn't be an allocation issue. Delay is due to holiday in Germany. Production should start back up 8/27.

I've heard about the holiday. So mybmw still says order received, but my CA said his manager told him he is showing it's already in production. Is he just lying through his teeth? That's what bothers me that they would instantly gor to lying to me about it instead of telling the truth.

Not today, the 26th? (Of course Euroland is all ready closed for the night of the 26th when I wrote this.)
