Wouldn't surprise me to se the X3 M40d dropped for the LCI models either.

The landscape has changed since the X3 M40d was launched - the confirmation of the government's refusal to re-band cars based on WLTP only came mid 2019.
Fair points.

I'm quite surprised how many people on this forum seem to have gone for the 330e. Its seems to be the new "diesel".

Much different choices to when the F3x was launched back in 2012 where everyone was buying diesels (mainly the 330d then later the 335d). So yes, things seem to be moving in a different direction with the G20.
I think BIK rates have dictated the trend towards phev over a diesel

Same way the diesel became popular, took over from petrol due to tax advantages for the company car user.

You'd think there are much fewer company car drivers nowadays though - isn't it far more commonplace to offer a car allowance rather than a company car? That said, even for the private motorist there are still financial benefits to choosing an electric vehicle or a hybrid.....

With the introduction of lower BIK rates for hybrid / electric i think it's swinging back in favour of the company car route.

Cash alternative for me would be about £6k a year so somewhere around £250-£280 extra a month in my pocket.
£280 to lease / buy a car and run it...

My new 330e and unlimited private fuel costs me around £270 extra a month which includes everything...

It's not really a surprise - government taxation rules pushed us to buy diesels and now they're pushing us to buy EVs.

340xd ordered last week

I have had a f31 from new for 7 years.

I ordered a 340xd that is expected in MAY and the fact that it has 48 volt system is a huge bonus. I am looking forward to it.

Good for you. I would have given this a second thought had it been available at the same time as the 330i.

Am I missing something, as you still can't configure one in the UK, so I'd be very surprised if one was being delivered in May!

They only released it this week - and haven't even confirmed if it'll be here in RHD form, which I still find very unlikely.

If you type autobert into YouTube you'll see a new M340d tourer in RHD in the UK. I think it's a BMW car so the fact that someone has ordered one and with this video it's certainly in the UK

Interesting, I still can't see a market for it! But BMW obviously can.

The DVLA data on it is very sketchy!

Interesting. That car was registered on the 23rd of December 2019 according to the DVLC MOT checker website.

I think you're right!

Autobert had an M340i Touring to review a few months before they became available through UK dealers and I'm pretty sure it was the BMW UK car that was on display at the golf tournament at Wentworth back in September. So I reckon young Bert probably has a close relative who works at BMW UK and gets him access to all these various cars to review!

In terms of the M340d, I was one of the cynics who thought it wouldn't make it over here but the existence of the car in the autobert video certainly suggests it will. However, unless you're a very high mileage driver personally I don't see the attraction or appeal over the M340i....

An M345e would make a lot more sense!

Yes unfortunately you are missing something.

I have a build week confirmed for delivery in May, hopefully there will be no delays. Happy to post when it arrives.

Ps I think I was in the right place at the right time when the opportunity to order came up. I assume the configurator will be updated soon. There is also an article on the uk release on top gear post.

Hi zorrotwo,

When did you manage to get your order in? In the last few days?

M340d now listed on the BMW UK website here https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/all-models/...19/inform.html

"Also available featuring a diesel engine, the BMW M340d xDrive offers 340hp and goes from 0 to 62mph in just 4.6 seconds. It’s everything you expect of a BMW 3 Series Saloon, yet with so much more."

The configure now button still only lets you do the petrol.

Sounds awesome.

I’d have been sorely tempted to take it over the M340i if it had been available to order back in October.
