The SM-10s will be launching with a Group Buy but no details yet on that date. VS-5RS are next on the list but that is a whole other project.

Video looks great! What size tires would you recommend for those of us on xDrive? 255/35 and 285/30? Or 245/35 and 285/30?

Did you confirm the fitment clears the larger front breaks from the ZTK package? The pictures look like they have the bigger ones, but I wanted to confirm.

Very good question, the pics look like the smaller brakes to me but I'd be surprised they don't fit since my aftermarket 8.5 ET30 wheels clear them but they are pretty tight thought and barrel shape can vary a lot.

I could be wrong here but someone said if you have the blue calipers up front it should have the ZTK package. The grey one had it so possibly it was ZTK. Again, I might be wrong.

Yes you are wrong (politely said), blue calipers with 355mm rotors is standard on the M340i and optional on the 330i. The ZTK package has a different (bigger) caliper and a 374mm rotor, rear brakes are the same.

Noted. I saw it on the forums. But I have a ZTK Package. Apex I can tell you if it fits

Looking back, I think you are right about those being the standard brakes. I am 99% sure the ones in the video were. My guess is they will fit fine as you pointed out, but a confirmation wouldn't hurt. My guess is many of Apex's would be customers will have the ZTK package.

There are a few options. One that you didn’t mention is 19x9 ET28 front and rear with a fully square tire set and a variety of square tire options:

245/35-19, 255/35-19, 265/35-19* (possible rubbing up front or small front spacer required depending on tire wi/265)

For the staggered setup: There are a few combinations that can work well:

Front: 235/40-19
Rear: 265/35-19
Front/rear split %: .4

Front: 245/35-19
Rear: 255/35-19
Front/rear split %: 1.06

Front: 255/35-19
Rear: 265/35-19
Front/rear split %: 1.05

Front: 255/35-19
Rear: 285/30-19
Front/rear split %: 1.15

We haven’t yet confirmed clearances against this kit as we haven’t been able to source a car running it in the Bay Area that we can bring in for laser scans. Anecdotally, I think it will clear. We’ve tested a Brembo g30 5 series template against these wheels that cleared with a 405mm rotor, but I do still want to validate ZTK clearances and have a scan of this kit on file for future wheel development.

If you’re in the Bay Area and can volunteer for a scan/ testfit, we’d love the opportunity to take a look at your car/brakes.

Both featured cars and other test cars were on the standard brakes as far as I know.

Thanks for the very thorough rundown of the tire sizes Tom! For the staggered setup on xDrive, wouldn't 245/35 front and 285/30 rear be better than 255/35 and 285/30, as well as many of the other setups? The difference in diameter is only 0.4... Which I believe is the % split you're referring to?

Yes, the 245/35-19 and 285/30-19 combination is actually the closest staggered match with a .4mm or .08% difference between the front and rear heights. I don't really like this combination as much though because of the front to rear tire width difference. A narrower front tire with a really wider rear tire is going to make the car prone to understeer and give you a less balanced but very xDrive-friendly setup. It's a tradeoff and it certainly could work, but the other options shouldn't cause issues with the transfer case/xDrive and will lead to better handling IMO.

One benefit of the narrower front tire is reduced steering effort and slightly more delicate steering feel although honestly this is less of a factor with cars running EPS like the G20 and more of a concern for older models with hydraulic power steering.

Sample wheel weights are not indicative of final production wheel weights. They should correlate quite closely but we will release the final weights after we've weighed a larger sample of production wheels. With that being said, the sample front wheel weighed 22.6 lbs while the rear was 23.2 lbs.

Expert@ApexRaceParts Thanks, good to know. Will the wheels be offered in Race Silver & able to take the BMW standard center cap or self-levelling one?

The release finishes are Anthracite (pictured), Race Silver, and Satin Black. The wheels will be built to the OE BMW cap diameter and will be compatible with factory BMW caps or any other aftermarket caps built to BMW specs including the self-leveling variety.

Been waiting on those VS-5RS for like 18 months now. When I took my car to your facility I was told by EOY 2021 ... any idea when they will actually be available? Wanted to get a set for both mine and my wifes car but if my lease will end before you guys have these for sale then I'll find something else

I just spoke to Joe M who conducted your fitment test with the original Supra wheels. I don't think he promised G20 VS-5RS by end of 2021, but if he did or anyone else at APEX did then it wasn't correct and I apologize. I don't have an ETA on G20 VS-5RS wheels at the moment. They haven't gone through engineering/production approval yet and we are focused on launching the SM-10s for this chassis.
