Confused - The Matte Chrome Grille and Matte Chrome Air Intakes?

I've seen many photos and videos of M-Sport Gran Coupe's with Matte Chrome surrounds on the grille and Matte Chrome vertical vents on the outside of the air intakes.

Yet when I try to find a build this way on the BMW configurator, it doesn't come up.

Can someone please clarify how one gets an M-Sport package with the Matte Chrome grille and the Matte Chrome vent accents? Thanks.

It's restricted to the M340i and M440i only. Moreover you can't add Shadowline package which replaces the chrome with gloss black.

Thank you, that makes sense now.

I ordered the Shadowline package on my 430i M-Sport build because I wanted the red brake calipers and want to replace the blacked out grill- are these chrome grills available either from BMW directly or a aftermarket parts supplier?

It’s not chrome, it’s Cerium Grey. And yes, OEM parts are available.

Apologies, Cerium Grey it is.

Is the install of the grille as easy as it was on the F3X, or do I need to find someone to do the swap for me?

I’m not sure for the 4 series. On my G20, the swap was easy. 5 clips and a trim removed tool had me complete swap within 5 mins.

Thanks. Another question if you don't mind: The all-black grille with the Shadowline package would work for me if the grill didn't 'blend' in with the lower air intake as seen in Photo 1.

As seen in Photo 2, some G26's were shipped with that little piece of body-colored trim beneath the grill, so the grill looks like a "grill" and doesn't disappear into the black abyss beneath. Anyone know what that's about?

Good catch. I had never noticed that and I am not sure. I’m guessing varying years or different trim. Either way, their probably exist an OEM part number for that lower body colored trim you prefer to have.

All G22 coupes and convertibles have the colored trim at the bottom. 100%. I have never seen it on a G26. Its suppose to only be on the coupe and convertible.
I wonder if they are short on grills on the G26 line they simply borrow from the G22 production line?

I think the colored trim at the bottom is very necessary otherwise the kidney grills get lost at the bottom.

In fact for that very reason Im not ordering the shadow line package on my Portimao Blue G26. At least the Cerium prevents the bottom of the grill from getting lost.

Last week I kind of felt the same way, forced into the shadowline package because I can't live without red brake calipers.

But I visited a few showrooms, saw the all-black grille on two Gran Coupe's in person, and I think differently now.

In photos, it looks like the grill gets lost. But in real life, it doesn't. The twin kidney shapes are still very visible. It has to do with depth and lighting and digital photos flatten all that out. I think now that BMW did a good thing because the grill is less prominent. In person, it doesn't look like the lower intake and the grill merge into one thing. It's two separate things.

That bottom photo is not of a G26. It is a G22. The top photo is a G26. The front end designs on the two cars are a little different, especially below the grille.

You can confirm that the bottom is the two-door coupe by looking through the front windshield and observing that there is no center headrest in the rear - only a grab handle to open the center pass-through to the trunk. The G22 only seats four, and the G26 seats five.

Perfect, thanks.

Question though, if I want that look with the little Brooklyn Grey piece defining the bottom of the kidneys, can I get it? Will the front fascia of a G22 fit on a G26?

My X2 m35i had cerium grey mirror caps and trim and I ended up buying carbon mirror caps and plastidipping the rest black.

Cerium is a water spot magnet, it is so damn hard to get it smooth and clean, it seemed no matter what I did it spotted and took a lot of effort to get them off.
