I've been doing research on wheel spacers and aftermaket wheel offset. When it comes to wheel spacers and what people feel is "Flush" can vary. I see some kits say 12f/15r and some will say 10/13 or 13/10 or 15/15. Basically all over the place. Some cars have staggered and some have square setup which affects spacer size needed. In some cases, people feel wheel/tire poke is flush, when I feel it looks horrendous on a non-lowered car. It does look "better" on a lowered car as any slight poke will kind of flow with the flat edge of fender arch. I think tire poke is so tacky. Just my opinion. Personally, I feel "flush" means the outermost edge of the tire should be inside the fender and not rub if the car were to be lowered down over the wheel/tire.

So what offset would make the wheel be just inside the fender lip arch? Lowered vs non-lowered?

You answered your own question... try 10/13 or 13/10 or 15/15 spacers with the wheels that you have and decide what is flush to you.

I have this setup on my car (staggered fitment with their reference tire sizes) and it would fit your definition of a "flush" fitment.

Ok. Good to know. What gets me though is the stock rear wheels are 8.5" et40 and those Apex rears are 10" et38 which makes the offset stick out 21mm which just seems like a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong though. I do like the Apex wheels I just wish they came in 20s.

With those numbers the Apex would be what most would consider "poking" with an ET difference of 21mm vs stock. I say this because when you look at a stock staggered setup many would consider a difference of 15mm to be about flush - 18 max - 21 certainly over

I would suggest you find a target in terms of what you consider flush (its a subjective moving target) and then use an offset wheel calculator to decide what works for you. Tires of course also come into play...

However it seems that if you opt for all season tires you get 8" squared setup which I'm assuming is 8" et 27 front and rear. The Apex setup of 9 et25 front and 10 et38 rear ends up being like having a 15mm spacer up front and only a 14mm spacer in the rear which makes more sense. The oem staggered setup gives you an 8.5 et 40 rear which must retract in by 7mm more giving the idea that a 10" et38 is like having a 21mm spacer which seems like a lot but in reality gives the same setup as coming from a 8" et27 in the rear square setup. Does this sound right?

I thought so too but after fitting the wheels/tires, it ended up being a flush fitment. In addition, the Toyo tires run "narrower" than Michelins, so it all worked out. I would contact the Apex team if you need an expert opinion, they are very nice & helpful to forum members.
