Tacky design is tacky design and even the greatest explanations for them will not make it any better.
Great design usually needs no explanation. Nobody had to be convinced E46, E92, or F80 M3 were amazing designs. |

Funny you say that. The backside of the concept from the profile view we were given reminds me of the E92 precisely. Just cant help but think, I've seen that before. Front side/mid section resembles the jaguar F-type... and not in a good way. G20 design is not a good look. Coming after the FXX, doesn't help much.

I've driven BMW's the last 25 years. Currently drive a tanzanite blue F82 M4 and wife drives a F80 M3. I can't get past these grills so need to find a new car to buy.

Looks like a really badly designed Alfa clone; then again BMW have always been chasing Alfa Romeo design!! Since the 1960s....so no surprises.

Barbecue Motoren Werke...
Glad the atrocious design is getting grilled, yes pun intended. On a bright note, if you ever get stuck on the side of the road and happen to have some groceries, you can tailgate while waiting for the friendly AAA guy. |

BMW has been decades ahead of Alfa design for at least several decades now.

Don't see anything wrong with the grille. Think it'll look awesome in person. Everybody freaked out over the Audi Singleframe grilles 15 years ago and every manufacturer is copying them now. Even with a F82 on the way right now, it's crazy to see how much this car, in concept form, dates its predecessor.

So much crying over the front, same old same old BMW lost it ways rinse and repeat.
Anyways Scott how much of the design language will carry over to the BMW i4? If you have any information about that consider the I cars have no real use of a grill in terms of feeding an engine with air. Or will they do something in terms of the I3 / I8 sculpting a grill but a none functioning one to make sure the car is identifiable as a BMW, if so i would wish for one detail design on the grill, for the love of god make it complete solid, the current one on the i3 accumulates so much water after a wash its like a crying goth girl after a wash the water just keeps pouring from them.

Point being at least I personally tends to fever the older design and takes a while to warm up to the new one... |

change for the sake of a change mostly doesn't end up being for the better. well, that why marketing and advertising guys have jobs, to make this our need!
referencing the TV show mad men, even Donald Draper might not be able to spin this utter BS Grill. |

Maybe the car was delayed by US Customs.
Can you provide a better teaser then the cheap render you just posted?

Grille is one thing, things that disturb me more are:
- hood line (that the production car will have and make the front looking worse) - license plate in the middle od the kidneys (come on imagine someone told you 10 years ago that in future the kidneys are so huge that you have to mount the license plate in the middle of the kidneys) - side profile screams toyota/lexus/subaru, but NOT BMW! What happened to the Hofmeister Kink? What about those door handles? |
