Self-Righting Center Caps...

Did anyone see this? This is new for the the G20.

How do they work, and will this affect us buying after market wheels for the car?

I think it's quite a neat feature for the G20 3 Series.

This feature was actually directly inspired by the "floating" design from the other brand within the BMW Group, Rolls-Royce.
There's a counter weight in the wheel center cap to ensure the proper orientation is always achieved.
However, I'm not aware that this would affect the ability to put aftermarket wheels on the car.

I would imagine it's contained entirely within the cap/wheel. The only issue you might run into is trying to mount the OEM caps in aftermarket wheels.

These are available, oem, already! Even before the G20 was announced, not model specific.

Let me see if I can find the link

I'm assuming this is a wheel thing, and not attached to the car?

Just need to know in a few years I can throw any old set of wheels on my car for the winter tire set.

The M logo should also be self righting. Otherwise it won't line up which it doesn't on current models.

This is one of the lamest things I've ever seen. When I saw it on that video a few days ago I thought it was a joke.

Absolutely agree...what a dumb use of $$$ IMO...

And yet I know a couple people that love the idea and would gladly handover money for it.

I was really surprised when I heard that this will be on the new 3. I'd expect something like this to be on the 7 or even 5 series but it doesn't really seem necessary on a sport orientated 3 series.
