Now, for the next factory BMW GT4, whether that ends up being based on the G82 M4 or switches to the G87 M2, it'll be interesting to see because it would typically use a beefed up version of the transmission from the road car. They did use the ZF8 in the M235i/M240i Racing, so I would not be surprised to see the GT4 get the ZF8 as well.
They should stick with Ricardo it's a Great transmission!

Oh that V8 E46 M3 GTR was nuts!! If I could ever buy a race car to stick in my garage and go have fun on occasional weekends, that might be it!

Looks just as ugly as the earlier pictures. The top of the grills is way too high, and really looks like it's been pasted on.

I believe the Supra GT4 will be using the ZF trans (although R&T states it is reduced to 7 gears) so it makes sense the new BMW GT4 would use the ZF as well ( assuming the G87 switches to a ZF if they base on that platform).

Anything is possible, but if that was John Hindhaugh who said it I would take it with a grain of salt. He can’t keep track of what is happening in front of him when he is announcing, much less what is going to happen in the future.

There was a statement from Jens Marquardt that made it seem they were planning to differentiate each level (GT4, GT3, GTE) with a different car. That said, they have run the same model in different classes before (I would much rather see the M4 run GTLM vice the M8) but I believe they will continue the M8 for another season or two and then replace with the rumored “halo” car.

All other GTLM cars have gone the mid engine route (even Porsche to an extent) so it makes more sense the next GTE/GTLM car from BMW will be mid engined, which the rumored “halo” M car is supposed to be.

The announcer was Calvin Fish. I hope it's the M4... I just want to see my team win and be competitive.

No I thought you had said M6 was GTLM. M8 is GTLM....M6 is GTD in IMSA. Always and forever, never was the M6 GTLM as far as I know. I don't see an IMSA tag anywhere on that black M6 but I do see a GTLM tag in front of the rear wheel. I'm just confused on the race series. I've only witnessed the M6 as a GTD at IMSA races.

But only because a GT3 race car does not need any license plates and does not have an ugly hood line (at least not in the teaser image)
