And now we understand why BMW is going so radical with the new M3/M4's. It's getting harder and harder for them to draw a clear line between the two.

Unless you drive both and realize that the difference is huge and they will never be "close" other than 0-60 stuff...

If you've ever owned an M car you wouldn't make that statement. Ive owned non M cars and currently own an F80 M3 Dct. The difference is night and day.

Ditto. 6 non-M cars and 2 M cars under my belt. I had no idea until I owned one.

Well, can't imagine they didn't see this coming. So one has to assume they planned for this. That said, if they planned to sell the ////M image for the ////Mxxx vehicles just to gain larger profits, what is the bigger picture for the true ////M vehicles? This will likely become clearer after this generation.

yes and yes to both those statements. I had an M4 and as much as I loved every bit of it and every time I fired it up and drove it,the complete experience and of course everyone checks out the M3/M4s.

But for the few things i didnt like about it, its why I have an M340i because my M4 was just not comfortable or convenient for the average drive. Its much more of a car for a specific purpose whereas my M340i I can enjoy for any purpose. Even my 911 that was replaced by the M4, was a better all around vehicle. Dont get me wrong, I still love M3/M4s but now that I had the M4 and M340i, I like this one better. That will likely change when the new M3/M4 comes out. No question, car guys can have your dream car but something else comes along just a little better and we cant wait to jump to it.
