It is like my secret guilty pleasure to visit bimmerpost forums, seek out a post with buck-tooth car, and read all the comments of horrified bmw fans who hard as they try just cant accept this... thing. I think a facelift will get us half way there and a new generation will sort out the grille. Funny they went for it on a top seller. Usually that honour would go to relatively pointless 7 series. But to do it to a 4 ? Brave. Very brave.

Top seller?!? Interesting. I didn't see any X3's or X5's in this thread. The 4 Series is like #5 or #6 on the list.

Sad that you would have to pay an additional $1,500 on top of a $60,000+ vehicle because it is ill designed.

Do you foresee BMW letting Dukec loose on the grills of the ever-popular SUVs? It seems to me that BMW is so proud of this "heritage" and "DNA" that they would be anxious to attach rat teeth to their best-selling models. Or should we expect more x7 action with a grill so big it bends back over the hood?

So what's everybody's excuse for spending that on "well designed" vehicles? It seems we, as enthusiasts, are always modifying/changing something regardless of how the vehicle is designed.

When was the last time someone was willingly to pay $1,500 to change a grille?

I think BMW already has a grille aesthetic for those vehicles. The size of those grilles have already increased. I think the coffin/beaver/rabbit toothed grille of the i4/4/M3/4 will be specific to those models (...in varying forms).

Not necessarily to change the grille itself, but people spend tons of money changing nice looking BMW's into overly-modified creations. We're just speculating that a bunch of people will buy the car and go through lengths to change the front end. Such speculation may or may not materialize.

One can not believe, but so many typicall BMW design elements have disappeared, so maybe the kidneys are next on their list....
...if this rides for 7 year traditional cycle we'll be pretty deep into the nearing end of ICE by then perhaps?... no need for it at that point

Grill is terrible and the taillights look like a Toyota 86 sorta. Those are my only complaints.

People criticized the mustache grills too, and they were RIGHT!

This is really unnecessary.
yeah i own an f15 x5 and am buying g01 x5 or x7 in the next 2 weeks to add to the stable. The grille looks proportional on a big car. Sorry mate low or high self esteem I don't buy kia/hyundai lookalikes. This one just is weird.

Well - the new 4 series is here and the grille debate is now a pure venting exercise.
