Quick guys, we need to wrap this car up! Cool, let's just copy a bit of Lexus and Audi and we'll call it a day!

No they're almost the same as the GS. All the way through the L shaped lighting. VERY Lexus inspired and undeniably so.
You clearly know nothing about automobile design language.

The form language of those tail-lights is not the same.

If you think it is I'd go get your eyes examined.

Fanboys are impossible to convince. It's blatantly obvious. If I gave you the same photo twice you'd think it was different....hopeless! Time to wake up, kid.
its really good marketing. BMW runs out of ideas and arguably makes a mistake overstyling their cars (which runs counter to their previous design principle of minimal lines/timelessness). But by simply paying a few journalists and marketing the heck out of it as "X% better" , people eat it up.
and
I wonder if these fanboys also love Hyundais and Kias because we are now at that level of overstyling.

Did BMW co-develop this car with Toyota/Lexus on design?

Next thing people are going to say that the roundness of the wheels is too Lexus inspired. Or the license plate area is too close to an Acura.

That's rich coming from an M2 owner .

These sedan comparison threads are ridiculous. Obvious attempt at driving traffic to the site, getting forum knuckle draggers' hackles raised so they can all argue about who's right.

I traded in my less than 2 year old bmw for a Lexus IS. The Lexus drives better in every single way (handling, real world acceleration...), has better seats, is cheaper, more reliable, better service at dealerships and more comfortable. Anyone with a 3 series right now clearly never drove the Lexus or the jag Xe before they bought their car. I haven't liked any of the launches lately either, so hope this car corrects all the issues with the rear suspension and reliability.

Being the only sedan of that caliber available with 6MT it didn't compete with anything else for me. Now that g20 is auto-only you'd better believe it I'll be cross shopping the hell out of it including SUVs and all kinds of cars. And I'm sure I'm in for a surprise. Let the best car win

Because of the partially blacked tail lights? I see nothing similar besides that

Oh..look, the G20 looks like a Sedan...it has 4 doors and 4 wheels, headlights and taillights. BMW must have copied it from Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia, VAG, Mercedes, Peugot, Renault, Tata, GM, Ford, Chrysler...ok, well thankfully not Chrysler.

Gents...there are only so many shades of lipstick to put on the pig.

It doesn't look like a Lexus. Unless Lexus fired their entire design apartment and rebooted their entire brand, the below does not look right. At all.

But in fairness, BMW has had somewhat L-shaped rear lights since the F10 I think.

It has to be done:
So the G20 having L-shaped rear-lights make it look like a Lexus, you say?

Let's take a stroll down memory lane:

EDIT: Might as well add the G20's lights here for completeness

There are more examples out there, but I'll stop here.

L-shaped rear light clusters has been a BMW design characteristic since 1986 when the E32 was released. Lexus tries to incorporate the "L" in their badge in their rear lights, while BMW has used the theme in their cars, demonstrably, for quite a long time now.

This is like that stupid dress that's either blue and black, or white and gold

Anyway, I'm in the camp of totally not seeing the similarities. The only thing they have in common to me is that their front ends look idiotic

Meanwhile, me want that CS rear lights. Badly!
