What in the f*ck!!! Please don't build that, current 3 has a good design, just take that and make it look more muscular and wide body, that grill is ugly AF!!

I wouldn't mind more vertical grills, but the angles and shapes in the render are no bueno. |

A buddy and I both have M4s and occasionally we have our own "BMW wine club," or excuse to drink some really good red wines. Unfortunately, given the looks of this new thing, those wine events are about to get much more expensive.

And that hood cutline can't be improved? That's my biggest dislike on the F80 styling because it's so glaring.

Does the grill extend out so you can actually use it as a grill?

Sadly it seems incredibly likely based on the vision iNEXT concept and what is visible through the camo that the kidney grills will look very similar to the renders. I think the lower flanking grills will have a different arrangement/look.
If the new M3 will use the 4 series grill which has been the operating procedure for the last few body styles which a few people have mentioned, does it look like the recent images of the camo 4 series have the vertical grills? To me it looks like they are more traditional horizontal grills. It looks like you can see the bottom of the kidney grills just above the license plate. Also all of the renderings show a euro plate, it doesn't look like there would be enough room for a US sized plate unless it is more similar to the inext concept. I hope there is a last minute focus group that steers BMW in the right direction. I am usually one to withhold judgement for a few months even after an official release because everything grows on me eventually, but i just don't know about something this radical. If it ends up this way maybe it will be a repeat of the short lived camaro grill when they combined the upper and lower grills and the camaro diehards went bonkers. Aside from the styling of the kidney grills great job on the renders, at least it gives us all something to look at and react to until the official release. I'm still holding my breath for a manual AWD m2 Grancoupe but I'm starting to think I might suffocate if i don't give up. |

BMW is one of the big 3 German carmakers who is willing to take risks with evolving their design language.
You look at Audi and it's the same thing replicated across the range. Same with Mercedes. Atleast you have the Munich outfit who is willing to take a radical approach on an M car which is pretty risky but has to be applauded. I must be one of the few people who actually loves this new look M car. Why? because i'm sick to death of M cars being regular series models with wider arches, a bulge here and there and fat wheels. That can be done by aftermarket tuners to make your regular 3 look more sporty. I for one welcome more radical changes like this. The dinosaurs will soon come around. |

I think this render is probably 75% accurate, and was presented to gauge the response. I also think it was designed to soften us before the official reveal......but I don't think many can be softened that much.
The response to the [pretty darn accurate] F82 renders was positive overall. https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=13699691 https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=794366 |

Alot of it harks back to BMW's roots. These tall kidney grills were seen on BMW's of yesterday. People lost their shit when BMW introduced the concept M1 with the louvre's and badge on the rear quarter panel. They lost their marbles on the vision CSL concept because of the tall kidney grill. BMW fans simply don't like change. Audi's are safe. Handsome but safe. Nothing interesting going on with those cars. You see the A8 rolling down the road and you will mistake it for an A6. There is just nothing interesting to look at with an Audi. You see the new updated 7 heading your way and you for sure know its not a 3 or 5 series and you can be sure the next 7 will be an even more radical departure from this revised one. This is all my opinion of course. I have followed all german cars for the longest time and everytime BMW comes out with something new and radical in their designs, I have always loved it because its new. A new shape, a new line, just something new. |

I love this new M3 render, the grill "similar" to the CSL (which I loooove), can't wait to see how the new 4 Series will look like, hopefully similar to this.

This on the day the C8 was released; a mid engine corvette now that's a good kind of radical.
Personally I don't like big grills on Lexus or Audi and I'd rather not see it on BMW. |
