Note that the poll allows for multiple choices and your answers are public.

Although nothing is officially confirmed yet, we are all but certain that the new M3 will feature M xDrive and a ZF automatic transmission like the M5. However, other drivetrain options are still very much a possibility as well. Furthermore, the rumored controversial front end styling has not yet been spotted unmasked.

I am personally willing to ignore the huge grill if it makes it to production. Most important to me is the MT.

I surely wouldn't buy if no MT is offered. I couldn't care less about AWD.

If they do a huge grill it'll probably grow on me fast like the X7 did.

The F80 didn't have enough drama with DCT for me so having available/selectable RWD (AWD would be fun for slippery conditions and launching) and a manual transmission are critical for me trying another M3 (I've had two F80s and an e46). I am shopping other vehicles to use as a track/street car tho too (M2CP, GT350, C8, cayman GT4, 991/992).

MT camp for me.

Only going to consider for myself if it has m xdrive. Manual not a deal breaker, I have zfat in my 440 mppsk and it's been great so far for the type of driving I do.

I do hope they offer rwd and 6mt + awd to at least throw some choice out there for all preferences. Will be nice to compare and contrast (with some civility I hope) the different versions. The driving experiences will all be a bit different suited to what each individual finds the most fun part of the car. I am generalizing a bit here.... Manual drivers love the transmission/engine connection, rwd drivers love the feel of balancing the cars traction and the lighter front end, awd drivers love the raw grip off the line and while powering out of corners + the winter benefit on proper tires.

From top #3 is manual only ( which is RWD )
From top #7 is AWD with manual
Will try to add AWD with AT

The first deal-breaker for me is the grille. It's as ugly AF as the latest render, I'm going to be forced to look elsewhere, or just keep my 2016 M4 longer. I couldn't bear to walk into the garage and have that abomination staring at me each time. I've said it before, but looks are not usually the deciding factor for me. In this case I would have no choice.

I really don't care if it comes with a manual or not, as I love the DCT in my car, but the second deal-breaker is DCT vs. the ZF 8-speed. I was not at all impressed with this transmission when I test drove both the M5 Competition and the X3M. In my back-to-back test drives, the DCT was superior. The ZF needs to be significantly better in the G8x M3/M4.

Edited to add: I won't buy an M3 at all; it will be an M4.

If it has ZFAT, AWD and a huge ugly grille then I may as well buy an Audi

If it just has ZFAT and a lackluster exhaust then I may as well buy an AMG C63S

PS. Are we really sure that those photos of test mules aren't Audi engineers having a bit of fun trolling BMW M owners?

You should add an option of " the car can be tracked all day long without overheating." ZFat overheats in about 5 laps of shifting.

Must be manual to preserve driver engagement.

Must be RWD to keep weight down, preserve balance, and reduce complexity for aftermarket components (primarily suspension and running staggered wheels).

Don't care if it's less power or same as current F80. My past with high hp FWD cars and my current addiction to nailing the gas at a green light means more power isn't a requirement. I just want traction so 400-450 is plenty unless there's a boost by gear option. Plus if it has the same engine, I can add power with a tune anyway to match the specs of the rest of the fleet.

Can't be ugly, but that's personal preference. I'm not even a fan of the 8 series to be honest but the G20 isn't too bad. Since I'm leaning towards a G82 I might be out of luck but maybe i'll warm up to a sedan.

I'd love for it to have a new DCT but I'm not expecting it at all. I'm currently staying open minded about ZF8 until I've properly tried it and don't mind on the selectable AWD if it means plenty of traction and therefore useable power.
The styling is a big issue currently, I'm still hoping I'll be able to see something in person at Frankfurt in September.
Edit: M4 for me too!

I haven't heard overheating at about 5 laps
But I am sure they will tweak the new ZF8 to be more aggressive and similar to DCT
They can along way, big improvement in last few years

I really hope it gets fully revealed at Frankfurt car show. Wish they would confirm so I can go there and see it in Person.

All of the recent articles I've read indicate that only the X6 and the M Vision Next will be the new cars for BMW at Frankfurt.

People were beating the hell out of the X4M (which will be alot heavier than the M3) on the track at the launch events without issue

Nothing but predictions, did any of them passed 100k and have the same problem?
