Reversing into drive and automatic brake came on?

Hi,

Reversing into my drive tonight the car suddenly braked and all kinds of alarms went off on the display! Scared the life out of me.

I couldn't see anything in the way and so I am wondering what setting I might have 'played' with to have made this happen? I did push the manual park assist button earlier today to see what that did but turned that off again..

Any thoughts??

Garage List
It's one of the PDC settings, to prevent you from accidentally reversing into a gate post or similar.
Dig into your idrive, you'll find it.

Perhaps a cat ran behind your car and the alarms stoped you from squashing it?

Think its called "Active PDC Emergency Intervention"
I've had it on since the start and it's only ever balls'd up once, which does give a bit of a scare. I think it decided I was reversing too fast towards a gate post.

When testing, reversing towards my old man dutifully standing in the middle of his driveway, it worked very well. Makes a bit of an odd noise though.

Yeah... here...

Happened to me the day after I got the car. I didn’t know what had happened until my wife said “thank God you saw the dog! I didn’t think you saw him run out!”
Yeah I saw him...

Made me look a right knob once reversing into a parking space between 2 cars as there was a car waiting to pass and the PDC must have anchored on 5 times as I was reversing, proper jolting, just too close to the cars for the PDC, loads of room in reality.

Occasionally does it when reversing onto my drive, it doesn't like the kerb at the front end when I swing it round.

This happens to me quite often and is annoying as it really jolts the car and then often refuses to let me override it and put the car into reverse again. I'm sure there is a fault as there is nothing behind the car could have detected.

I know I could turn it off but I keep thinking it will save me one day

Thanks all, so I’m not alone! As I said, scared the life out of me with all kinds of crazy going on in the car and dash! And yes, probably looked a right idiot trying to get into my drive!

Had it happen a fair few times parking in multi storey at work. Doesn't like the big pillars and has a panic. It's annoying as it is doesn't let you reverse any further until you've driven forward a bit.

Have on multiple occasions now found that PDC will show red in sections on the display where there is absolutely no object anywhere near. Have got to used to it, but does seem to be hypersensitive compared to the F31...

Happens to me, there is a setting that focuses on your "rear" sensors only, and also "side rear" sensors, I disabled the side rear as I have less chance of hitting it if obstruction is to the 'side'...

Also the strange noise/grating is because I think it engages your parking brake which is the rear brake pads only, and it is rough and ready, not like the braking with brake pedal...

Yes that is a horrible sound! It hasn't happened for a while but did it randomly at the weekend when reversing into the drive again.

I have left all of these on though because I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.
