It works 80% of the time perfectly and then gives the usual warning. I think it's getting better.

I’ve given up because it wants my phone Bluetooth audio connected to the car, but then I miss notifications while I’m driving. Not worth the hassle for my use case.

Works fine for me. What do you mean about missing notifications? I still get those on the CarPlay screen. I use Alexa all the time as the easiest way to select music and “hey BMW” for other stuff. Not had a dropout for a while.

I don’t use CarPlay (or Android auto in my case).

Alexa has worked in the past but not for a few weeks. Settings look fine but I just keep getting the normal set up warnings. The strange thing is I haven't changed anything.

Tried to find out why Alexa is not available in my Sep 20 car. BMW UK told me today that Alexa integration was being stopped because of all the issues and will not be available until BMW and Amazon have come to an agreement?

That’s strange as I have just checked and Alexa is working fine.

BMW ain’t got a clue with Alexa my local dealer didn’t even know it was available or how install ... Your best talking to the connected drive team via email or phone, but mine still working , well most the time

Well mine works fine today. Not had an error message for probably 2 weeks now. I presume by BMW UK you mean "The Connecteddrive helpline". My experience of these people is not good. I have heard everything from "What Alexa in the car?, never heard of it" to "Your car cant have Alexa" - all of it utter rubbish. I'd take such information with a pinch of salt.

Working fine for me. I even turned my lounge lights on while driving home yesterday.
I only set it up a couple of days ago though so don't know about reliability/dropouts long term.

Hello, I tried to run Amazon Alexa functions on my BMW today.

I was able to correctly link my BMW ID to my amazon account. In MyBMWapp I have the status of a valid connection to the service. My software version in the car is 03 / 2021.46. However, AlexaApp did not appear on the list of apps installed in the car, despite the fact that the list was refreshed by "option". I have activated all the voice assistant functions of the external provider. Also the trigger word.

When I say "Alexa" a blue circle appears on the car's screen, but as soon as I say the command, the circle disappears after a short beep and nothing happens. Nothing else works, the circle disappears every time I say something after "Alexa".

Is the availability of Alexa features limited to certain countries? My car is linked to an account in Germany, but I tried to use the function in Poland.

Any ideas?

Mine is pretty poor.

It seems to work once fine, then when you try and get it to play something else or give it a second command in the same journey, it understands the request, says it back to you, i.e. confirms the song with the blue circle spinning, but then silence - it comes up with unknown track and artist on screen (in car play) and nothing plays.

If I disconnect the iPhone and uncheck the apps setting or whatever it is, then reconnect, it’ll start working again fine but then eventually, or even straight away just slip back into not working again, all within the same journey.

Pretty frustrating.

So I was able to find a solution that has been working stably for several days. Maybe it will give some hints for others (especially from countries not officially supported by BMW regarding this function).

1. First, your car must have an account on the Connected Drive portal where the feature is supported (eg Germany, UK). This means that the VIN will be transferred to this account or the function will not work. And by the way, then you can actually access Spotify via the car's SIM card as a bonus feature.
2. Make the connection as BMW shows in the tutorial here:

3. Integration works regardless of whether your phone is connected to the car in iDrive or Carplay mode.
4. In my case, unstable operation was caused by several attempts to integrate with the service, which resulted in several BMW integration end devices in my Amazon Alexa account. It is worth logging in and checking if there is more than one. It is best to delete all (disconnect from the service / remove from the list). And then make the connection all over again.
5. I didn't need to reset the car to factory settings as some people suggested here.

Can’t get mine working. Downloaded 03.2021.50 today, it says it enables Alexa integration, I go to MyBMW app and click Alexa, it says “not supported” under the M340i icon. It lets me connect, which I have, but no dice in the car. Also don’t have “Third Party Assistants” under Car > Settings > Personal Assistant either.

Mines awful (or maybe I don't know how to use it properly) and I don't bother with it. Google Assistant thru Android Auto works so much better.
