Open Pore Oak trim in glossy or matte finish?

I see pics of some G20s where the black-stained open oak is glossy, and others where it is matte (same year, looking at new inventory at same dealer).

Does anyone know what determines whether it is glossy or not? I just specified the only oak option I saw in my build, and the tracking website says it will be matte (which is my preference, but I guess I won't know until my car is delivered).

Mine is Matte... never seen a glossy oak open pore.

I think you are seeing the ash grey high gloss option. Looks similar in color to the open pore oak only glossy.

Ah, makes sense. On the website configurator, the ash grey looked slightly brown to my eyes, so when I saw the dark grey with gloss in all the dealer photos it threw me off.

I have the ash grey...its an interesting color. In the shade, it appears to be a dark gray but when the sun shines on it-it gives off brown hues. I like it but would prefer the matte just bc the dust doesn't stick to it and no fingerprints, etc.

Looks nice! Definitely a little more brown than the open pore oak I have.

I noticed on the BMW build site, they have a new almost black open pore (matte) wood option. Can't find any real life pictures of it though.

I think the color and texture of the ash grey looks great -- I do prefer matte for the reasons you mention and I always opt for the least reflective surfaces I can find.

The gloss ash grey is what my custom build mistakenly came with. From a color perspective I actually liked it a lot. But I had ordered the matte open pore grey so I made the dealer swap it out for me. I prefer the non-gloss too for all the reasons already mentioned.

Open pore wood can't be gloss, a gloss finish must have all the pores sealed before a gloss finish can be applied!

I'll be going for the open pore oak trim, I love natural wood finishes in a dark grey tone!
