My point was in response to the protected NCD discussion regarding if it was worth it. Like any insurance it’s not worth it if you never have to claim.

As to your point about comparison websites not covering all providers. You are correct and it’s always worth doing the others individually if you think they may give you a better deal.

As for who is most competitive? It is hard to compare apples with apples unless you know all the variables that go into giving an insurance quote

Car
Persons age
NCB
Post code
Where car is parked
Endorsements
Etc. Etc...

I have two cars in my family and go through the rigmarole of checking for the best deal every year. Invariably I end up with two different insurers for the two cars to get the best price. ... go figure....

Seems very odd that LV won't offer insurance on the M340i. It has more active safety features than previous 3 series generations, and can't see that it would be anymore attractive to steal than what they currently insure.
I had my M4 insured with them till recently, with 20k miles inc business use, plus mods, and it was a reasonable £650. I just don't see what's different with the M340i

I agree and was very surprised LV weren't able to quote for the M340i. Just in case the girl I spoke to last night had made a mistake I went on to LV's website today; it allowed me to select the M340i - and input all the details for me and any additional drivers - but then when I clicked to get the quote at the end of the process it told me they don't offer insurance for that vehicle! Leaving aside the logic of excluding that particular model, why bother listing it as an option to select in the drop down box if you won't insure it?

We got our M340i not long ago so paid a little bit extra to change from a F36 420d until April. The policy is my wife's as I've got my daily driver so we decided she should have her own policy. Our renewal is due next month and Admiral have us a feedback price of approx £2800!! My wife will have only 2 years NCB come renewal time.

Search on compare the market and the best price was approx £1800.

Jumped onto BMWs insurance for a quote and got £917+25 motor legal cover. £150 compulsory and £300 voluntary excesses. The funny thing is changing the voluntary to £100, £200, £400 or £500 made the premium more expensive.

Decided to buy with BMW insurance as they'll use a BMW body shop etc plus from the wording they seem to be ok with modifications?
