Canadian M340i governed at 200km/h?
Hey guys, just want to start this post by stating this was performed late at night on a empty highway that circles the outskirts of my city... would never put anyone in danger.. other than my self hehe,
Anyways I wanted to open my car up and see what I can get it up to.. I also performed this on my 2013 328i I let off at 218kmh... tried this in my M340i... and the car limited me to 203km/h... totally felt the car cut power and ramped the RPM's down to 3-4k when I was full throttle right as I hit 200kmh.. anyone can confirm this or is there a setting?? My car was equipped with the pilot 4S at the time.. found it odd considering my 328 went higher than 200 |

I believe cars with the summer performance tyres are limited at 155MPH? Did you try again? Or did you hit 203 only once?

Only did it once, I've seen YouTube videos of them going way higher than 203, that's why I wonder if there's a setting or not or if mine wasn't programmed correctly..

if you had performance tires when you got the car - it should be 155 mph limit
Did you put snow tires on - being in Canada? when they install snow tiers - there is a setting in the tire initialization to soft limit speed Are your winter tires V rated? or H rated (130MPH) if V rated - you could mess with settings in tire and tell the car it has summer tires |

There is one exception to the rule of performance tires getting the higher maximum speed of 155 mph (feature code 840), at least when I ordered last March in the US.
That is if you get wheel option 1PN, which is the 791M jet black wheels with performance non-rft. In that case, for some reason you do not get feature code 840. Source for this was the US Ordering Guide updated 3/4/19. Again, possible things have changed by now. |

Only NA cars are limited to 130MPH I believe. Because of the tyres we get with the car.

Oh yes. I forgot about that. If the car doesnt come with all season tyres, I think it is limited to 155mph?

I can confirm I was cut off at 130MPH with my m340i with 225/40R19 All-Season Run-Flats. I actually had no idea this was based on the tire.

Go into tire settings and chose the higher speed limit, that should fix your concerns. All seasons are tied to the 130 mph max.

So cars that come with summer performance tyres have an option in the iDrive to limit to 130 or 155 depending on the tyre the driver puts on it?

Go in tire settings, make the change and go test and report back. I wouldn't recommend this if you're running all seasons though.
There's a reason BMW set two different speeds based on tire type. Even the tire pressure recommendation in idrive changes depending on tire chosen.
