Installing HiFi Speakers (S676A) on Base Audio
I have a 2019 G20 (with ID6, the ENTRYNAV2 headunit) and I have the opportunity to get the whole set of speakers from a 2021 car with HiFi (S676A) option, for next to nothing.
Now we all know that in order to get the best possible results, you need an AMP, but installing an AMP on a G20 with no RAM is a nightmare - one that I'd avoid at the cost of worse sound. So my question is this, can the head-unit run the HiFi (S676A) speakers (front, rear and woofers) without an AMP? |

Nope. HU can't drive 2Ohm woofers. It won't fry itself, but it won't be happy either and there will be too much bass at low volume and as soon as you turn up the volume a bit - the HU will no longer be capable of delivering sufficient current to the 2Ohm woofers. If you want good sound you'll need to do and amp and for example even Hifi speakers if you can get them for cheap - why not.

Entrynav2 is an NBT variant, so it is stable at 2ohms.
That does not mean that replacing base speakers with HiFi will make it sound better. The problem with any EntryNav2 in a base audio is that it doesn’t have tweeters, it uses the mids as mids/tweeters. If you add HiFi tweeters to this system then they will sound harsh as the mids and tweeters will have the same signal input without any filtering. |

Could I run the Hifi speakers and subs? Base has 8ohms speakers and 4ohms subs, Hifi 4ohms speakers and 2ohms subs. |
