BTW, both the "crystal" starter button & iDrive controller are on eBay -- several listings for each

I finally managed to pull out the start stop button with the supplied plasticine clay. You don't have to disassemble anything nor does the button break. It is important to cover the whole button with clay and then pull it out quickly.

Changed mine Start/Stop button today. It's alright. Probably will look even better after sunset. It literally takes couple of minutes to change. Couple of things to point out. The button is flat. It doesn't appear on the pictures but it's flat.
It's also not flush with the base. Not a problem I guess. Will use for a while and can always go back to the original one if I change my mind. Some pics: |

It is but it was the fact you can see the 'start, start, start' etching on the button in the background that threw me off even more.

I tried using the clay provided by the seller but it does not seem to work. Does anyone have an alternative method that doesn't require pulling out the entire console? lol

Get a circular item that you can stick some 3m vhb tape on which is similar size to the button (I used an old touch up paint bottle), stick it to the original start button and just a quick pull and it will come out |

This is the one I bought. There are cheaper ones available but I wasn't sure about the quality. They may be exactly the same ones, I don't know
