Hi,

I've completed my all-Morel updates to my m340i but am now contemplating a separate sub. If you installed an external amp for a sub in your G20, where did you put it? Pictures appreciated!

I just started posting his links in facebook. Great to work with and will make adjustments for the speaker you want to install. I'm going to toss in an AudioFrog GB10D4. It's hard to find nice speakers that work in small enclosures

Also considering installing an aftermarket sub + amp, I find the HK system really lacks in bass.

Going to mount the sub amp in the space below the where the enclosure will be. It’s a perfect space for it.

Update…

Installed my sub and amp(vx1000/5i). It’s bridged to run the under seat subs and subwoofer on the 5th channel.

The DSP helped me fine tune the under seat subs and sounds excellent overall. It’s a huge step forward for the HK system. I used the technic pnp harness.

Overall very happy but not thrilled with my amp location. I placed it there for convenience/maintenance/tuning. It’s very easy to hook up my laptop to it in that spot

I was also debating on where to put the amp and the top of the trunk seems to work. Did you have to drill into the metal?? Any close up photos in the mount points?

I did in fact drill into the top portion of the trunk. I was able to verify that nothing was behind it and I used spacers to even out the amplifier.

I don’t have any clear photos of it head on. I’ll see what I can do this weekend.

EDIT: Changed photos to show that all I did was add spacers and used tap screws to mount the amplifier. I also added a JL audio SGRU-10 grill as well. I do intend to add braided sheathing to my wiring too at some point down the road

Thanks for the detailed explanation and photos. Just ordered the visual ice stealth box, jl audio 10w3v3-2 powered by an alpine s2 a60m that will use the technic pnp harness. I plan to mount the amp to the top of the trunk as well.

I ended up putting the amp in the left corner where the booster sits. I removed the booster mount and cutout a mdf board to fit the booster and amp in the same location.

I initially bought a mono amp for the sub with the technic harness but realized the underseat subs are completely eliminated with the mono amp and moving forward with a five channel which will bridge the two channels for the underseat subs.
