Android Phone Connection Issues

I picked up my M440i 10 days ago and when the BMW genius went through the features with me, he had issues connecting my phone. The phone connected but the contacts were not displayed. I've played around with it and finally got my phone to work to day with the contacts. I made a few calls in the car with no problems. I got home and tried making a call from the car and the phone will not connect after numerous attempts.

Are any of you having connectivity issues with your Android phones? What phones are you using that have no issues.

Thanks,

My Samsung S21 Plus has issues with contacts loading. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.
This also happened to me in a BMW loaner car so it must be a widespread issue.
I ordered a new Samsung phone.

I don't have that phone (and issue), but read about toggling bluetooth version that seems to help in this thread:

I purchased a new Samsung phone and still had the same problem from time to time. The last software update seems to correct the problem permanently.

My Motorola G Power phone with Android 11 connected just fine at the dealership at delivery. About a week later, it wouldn't connect. I ended up removing the phone, and when that didn't correct the problem, I deleted the profile and started all over.

It's worked ever since and it's been 2 months now. I'm glad everything is working for you after the software update.

@misterted,

I have had the same problem with my Samsung S21+, running Android 12.0.

Thanks to a post on another thread, I found a fix, albeit temporary as problem reoccur at irregular intervals. Here's what you have to do; on your phone:
  • Go to SETTINGS
  • Search Bluetooth PBAP
  • Click on VERSION
  • Select 1.1
  • Tap on APPLY
  • Select 1.2
  • Tap on APPLY

BTW, when Contacts won't sync with car's iDrive, I was able to use them by using Android Auto's phone app. Finally, even with the above fix working, some contacts' pictures are missing--though they are displayed whe using Android Auto Phone Contacts

This problem & fix leads me to strongly believe that the problem is not due to car or phone, but rather the Android operating system-- I wish Google would fix!!

Hope that helps!
