M440i vs Audi RS5 drag races

Latest drag race. The M340i likely would have identical performance to the M440i, and the RS5 with a rather poor showing:

RS5 did better in the drag race from a complete stop, but lost both rolling races! Thoughts, anyone?

Aren't RS5's like, 95K$ new? I'd say a 65K$ M440i did a heck of a job keeping up close to it! First roll race was won by RS5, it seems. And yes, the second roll race was taken by BMW!

yep. audis are nice but overpriced big time imo

$84k vs $67k option for option (still a big difference). Worth it to me, but obviously not to others.

If one doesn't mind the look of the M3C, then that is hands down a better deal.

My brother hates the new grill and says he would only get an M5, although that's obviously a lot more expensive

Incredible to see. And to think it really doesn't take much to add serious power to these things. Dime for dime the BMW is really next level

This is not completely accurate.

This is an RS5 vs an M440i GC. There are differences.

1. Curb Weight: 22' M340i xDrive 3,979 , 22' M440i xDrive 3,977 and 22' M440i GC xDrive 4,169

2. Final Drive Ratio: The M340 and M440 are 2.81 and the GC is 2.93

There are some others as well. How much of a difference would this make? NO idea but it certainly would favor the M340/440 in this setting.

@Rux. I think an indication is shown in an earlier race on CarWow that included an M440i xDrive 2021 (Coupe), altough a different day, different temperature etc. The 1/4 mile time for the M440i was 12.1, the same as this RS5 Sportback and 1/2 second faster than the M440i GC.

Car and Driver has the RS5 Sportback at 11.8 sec @ 115 mph, and the M440i xDrive (coupe) at 12.3 sec @ 112 mph.
