Hello, I have a 118i f40, I have the HBA option in the steering wheel stem and it takes me to the bmw store to acquire the function, I know this is not my forum, but the control units will be the same and the encoding option will be anyway, I am interested in knowing how you have coded it, I have bimmercode

I think only one person has coded this on a G20 via someone who knows what they are doing. It'll be advanced coding not a prebuilt menu in Bimmercode.

Why don't you just buy the software from connected drive? Probably the easier and warranty safe option. Your car comes with all the hardware by the sounds of it.

I have to agree with del82 on this one. This was a very long and involved project. Had I had the option to purchase HBA through the bmw store I would have saved myself the hassle and done so. How much are they asking for it? This is definitely something you are not going to be able to accomplish via bimmercode. You most likely are going to need to pay a professional to do the coding for you. Even with a great coder working with me it still took me replacing the stalk and 2 tries to get it working. And even then, we got very lucky, as this was all uncharted territory. It was a shot in the dark. This is most likely not a feature you are going to be able to acquire for free.

Coding isn't too much of an issue for me. I just purchased a used SZL on fleabay for $150. It's an older production revision but is essentially the same.

Just to give you a heads up the usual steps to code HBA don’t work with the G20, an alternate method must be used.

Gotcha. The whole project cost me over $500 so that doesn’t sound too terrible to me hahahaha. But i can understand you wanting to save the money if possible.

How much are they charging you? In the UK it's a one off £160 which is at most a small amount more than buying all the coding equipment, if not less.

Also if BMW ever update your car, goodbye coding. You'll have to start again.

For £160 I wouldn't risk potentially messing up my car with complicated coding that is very different to previous gen software.

Still not a bad price compared to messing around with coding.

Although it should be standard, don't get me wrong.

I'm still trying to code the feature on my M340. The SZL works and shows the option to purchase message on the cluster but that's all. (5AC) VO coding wasn't successful as previously stated. I scoured through all the BDC/KAFAS CAFD files and found some parameters pertaining to FLA/HBA but with no luck. My vehicle doesn't have the Driver Assistance Package; only Active Guard.

Shawn Sheridan suggested I may need: AppID 433 (1B1) -> MID FLA- High Beam Assistant .

After trying for days to code HBA, I reached out to r33_RGSport for help. Unfortunately we weren't able to activate HBA and only produced driver assistance errors. I have a feeling Driver Assistance Package equipped vehicles may have the HBA feature unlocked on KAFAS. This would mean standard Active Guard equipped vehicles are SOL. The only other solution I can think of is retrofitting an FLA equipped mirror but at this point it's not worth going any further with this project.

Sounds like a lot of trouble. The cost in connected drive in UK for M340d is £160. Although £160 seems a lot for a safety enhancement it also seems like it's a lot easier to just buy it from BMW.

Yes, I did this for a F30 and F10 both had FLA equipped.

BMW is securing there car's more and more...

I'm afraid VW has started a new way of branding options with the golf 8. OTA option store.

Just to confirm my 330e, build date 9th September, arrived yesterday and has the 2nd button for HBA. Clicking prompts me to buy the £160 option. Not sure how that then gets to the car via logging in to connected drive in the car I assume.

Like I said. You can login to Connected drive and buy the option.

Any update on the topic? I have 2019 G21 330i with retrofitted laser lights but without HBA. I would love to use whole potential of those great lights but in my car there's no 'auto' button under 'BC' at left stalk near steering wheel to activate anti-dazzle function. I can replace the stalk but not sure if that will be enough to make it work. My camera is KAFAS4 - MID FLA. Some people say it's impossible in G20 to retrofit HBA because you need FSC code and BMW is not selling it at the moment - I don't see any part number for High Beam Assistant - 01B10001. I'm doing some research before buying the stalk, any help would be appreciated.

My vehicle was sucessfully coded without an RSC code I believe.

Do you mean that you added HBA without FSC? Who did that for you? I already replaced the stalk but that's not enough to make it work. After pressing auto button the car asks me to buy this option via ConnectedDrive store but it's not possible because it's greyed out.
