Have to say my iPhone 12 does get bloody hot if left in there for any considerable length of time although it may be due to the clear plastic case it is fitted in?

I ordered this aftermarket wireless phone charger. For €69 I can't believe how good the quality is. It plugs into the cigarette lighter

Does the lid still close with this tray installed?

And does anyone know if it will fit the G22?

Have found it, but ad says only for left hand drive? Is the tray different between left and right hand drive?

Also, does the lid of the compartment still close with the charger in place?

The lid is handy for hiding your credit card. It closes with a click. I saw the left hand drive only. I don't understand that. The center council is the same in both L and R hand drive. I'd take a chance and buy it. It's a quality product

I meant the lid that closes over the cup holders. Does that still close? Charger looks bulky, just worried it would stop the lid from closing

I installed this one and it was terrible.

US $37.50 25% Off | 10W wireless phone charger for BMW 3 Series G20 G28 2019 2020 power adapter charging onboard for iphone se qi fast charge plate
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mq8kRDw

I found the charging area to be too small. So while driving, if my phone slid off to one side just a bit, it wouldn't charge.

I have an iPhone 13 Pro so I just adhered a MagSafe cable to the charging deck and ran the power under the cupholders. Works great and MagSafe keeps the phone from sliding about.

Whilst we’re on this subject why is the reminder you’ve left your phone on the charger not a big reminder on the screen. It’s a tiny notification at the bottom of the dash.

I don’t need a suggestion to ventilate my car (configurable I know) but I would like one there about my phone.

Turns out there is a difference, and it does NOT fit RHD cars.

So if anyone with a LHD 3 or 4 series wants one, let me know.

Does this one just plug in, or did you have to remove the cupholders to get it wired in?

Need another solution that works for RHD cars

No wiring needed, just use the usb cable which is reasonable discreet

Did you figure out if the lid closes over the cup holders? I'm wondering the same thing. Thanks

Pictures of the product show that it closes, will let you know for certain when it arrives

I have one from aliexpress and it works perfectly for me. The phone does get hot on long drives if I have carplay running but that's the same as the OEM one

Sorry, I meant the first one you purchased that plugs into the cigarette lighter. You were also asking about lid closure over the cup holders earlier in the thread. I'm in the USA and may be interested in getting one for my 330e

I don't know whether the lid closes with the original one, as it didn't plug in to my RHD car, as it was made for LHD cars, turns out there is a difference.....

Looks like the lid SHOULD close, but I couldn't say for certain

Some good after market options here. Been thinking about a wireless charger but I use an SP Connect case (similar to Quadlock) on my iPhone 12 and am not sure if it will charge wirelessly due to the thickness of the connector. Need to try that first!

Can you explain how you got the cup holders and ran the power under neath?

I found out the hard way about the cup holder area being different between LHD and RHD cars.

Then bought the other wireless charger that was shown on here, but it doesn’t really work if your phone has a case on it. Works fine if I take the case off, but don’t really want to do that because the phone slides around everywhere if you take the case off.

How have other people found it when their phone has a case on?

Mine is the official apple MagSafe leather case, so its pretty thin, but when i place it on the charger, it shows as charging for a minute or two, but then it stops charging, so you end up messing about taking the phone out and trying to put it back in etc to get it to work. Waste of time

Use this case from ESR via Amazon for my iPhone 12 and it charges fine via the inductive pad and doesn't slide at all (no matter how fast you corner!)
