Autohold - do you use it?

Just canvassing opinion really. It's one of the features I was looking forward to getting but I do find it a little bit jerky, or more to the point not quite as smooth as I'd hoped for, when moving away.

Maybe there's a knack to it but I wonder what other people think.

No I'd rather be in control, used it once by accident and it freaked me out that the car didn't roll forwards when I took my foot off the brake!

Switch it on and off as needed. Really useful in some situations, really annoying in others. I think the button has such prominent placement because it's designed to be switch-off-and-onable.

Garage List
2020 G20 330e  [9.00]
So far only used it as needed. Eg came in handy in Italy and Switzerland this summer when in traffic on some of the inclines.
Didn't like it on the declines…seemed to really shoot off when I applied a bit of acceleration

Use it all the time BUT switch it off when parking in small spaces, have to press accelerator to hard so i would hit next car!

Absolutely agree!. It is useful to use regularly but NOT when maneuvering in tight spaces.

I had a mk7 Golf which had it. Then when I went to an F36 and it wasn’t there I was a bit disappointed. I think it’s great that the G20 has it as it means you don’t have to sit with your foot on the brake in queuing traffic.

This is the one feature I really hate, I find it’s very hard to have smooth progress in traffic with it. I prefer the creep of the auto with it off.

As has been said you need to press the brake quite firmly to activate it when you reach a standstill so it's really not a big deal, unless you're driving around with size 12 DMs.

Broadly agree with those here who think it's a useful little feature. But I also appreciate that it can feel like too much of an artificial and intrusive intervention when you're manoeuvring rearwards. Then again, I rarely entertain tight spaces, if at all poss, wary as I am of parking next to anything that looks like a probable door-dinger...!

Absolutely use it. Always on--I find it fatigue reducing.

Thanks for all the replies Chaps. I might summarize as not unanimous!

Nobody has particularly commented on my issue with take off being a bit jerky. For the 330i owners in particular do you ever feel this? xenon stu14t Colliwobbles SilverGrey OM3RTA

Edit - I guess the best way to explain what I mean by jerky is that the brake seems to release a fraction too late when the car tries to move.

I can’t say that I’ve noticed any jerkiness. Then again, it tends to come on whilst in traffic and moving off isn’t usually at great speed.
