Well good to see my thread is still alive and well!
Since my original post through a combination of my experience and (perhaps) things bedding in I now find it a much smoother feature and have it on as my default but as others have said for close control turn it off.

Me too, never have it off in day to day driving and can use it to creep and then firmly press to apply, works great.

It actually caught me off guard when after having the car in at the dealer's it started to roll forwards - I'd grown so used to AH I forgot the car would do that when not enabled!

Never turned it off and never really encountered any real issues. Had it on my last 4 cars and it makes a lot of sense on an auto.
