iDrive update last week and now battery problems

So, my car was in to have one of the side view mirror modules replaced and I asked them to update the iDrive as I haven't received an OTA update since 07/2020.

The work was done on Monday... on Wednesday I started getting a "Battery Malfunction" and "Power Supply" error when opening the car.

I checked the battery with a voltmeter and it reads just over 13V, with the car on or off. BimmerLink says the batter is at 93%... whatever that means. It starts just fine and doesn't act funny.

If I go on a longer drive the warning message won't come on the next time I start the car... unless it sits overnight - then it will come on in the morning.

So... What happened here?

1- Car wasn't on a battery tender while the iDrive was being updated and now the battery is jacked?

2- The iDrive update has introduced some sort of battery drain?

I've got an appointment next week... Here's hoping this doesn't turn into a chasing parts kind of problem.

I'm also stuck on 07/2020 on g20 even though I bought the car in March this year, while my g05 got ota updates till 03/2021.

Checking in… the error went away after a week or so, but now it's back.

Guess I shouldn't have cancelled my appointment.

This is all I'm getting in Bimmerlink:

it's possible that idrive update messed up your module for battery monitoring, so it's probably a software glitch.

another option is to reregister the battery.

error code detail description:

The diagnosis monitors the software of the battery electronics in the lithium ion battery.
The fault is entered if the battery electronics were reset.

service plan for the code:

If the fault is currently present or the fault frequency is greater than 35. Carry out following procedure:

Exchange lithium ion battery. Afterwards, carry out a battery exchange registration

Otherwise, ignore the fault.

Isn't the Lithium-Ion battery a separate battery from the "12 Volt" battery.

yes, usually you have 2batterys in G series or 3 if you have rear wheel steering, up front is the small one under the hood(for radio), the big one AGM is in the trunk
