G21 Rear Camera at night is blurry & poor quality.

I've had my G21 for close to 8 months now, and came from a 2016 Renault Megane RS, which I think had a better camera surprisingly.

I've messed around with the camera settings & have cleaned the camera multiple times, it always feels blurry especially at night time. Any lights like streetlights or other headlights have massive light trails off them all over the screen, I've even then jumped out of the car and cleaned it again to see if there's a film or any dirt.. nothing.

It feels like my car has an astigmatism or something

Anyone else disappointed with the quality, I'll get a photo next time and update here - just wanted to see if others felt the same.

Are sure it’s not scratched?

Nope, looks perfect. It's also fine in the day, just struggles at night.

I’ve only had my car since March, and I’ve not driven that much, so reversing in the dark has been very limited, but I don’t think it looked too bad.

Garage List
I agree, I had a new 5 series when my car went in for a service and far better camera at night. Looked like they had included infrared as it was quite bright even in the darkest area.

As above, mine is pretty clear even at night. Does suffer when not clean but I just run my finger over it most nights when leaving work during winter months.

My wife's Audi reverse camera is far worse quality.

So far mine seems fine and much better than on my (traded in) 2019 A4 Avant although that car did have a washer jet on the camera which was useful.

VW have the best idea with the camera behind the badge, which pops out when you put it in reverse. No dirty lens.

Worth a few squirts of water before touching to the lens to avoid scraping grit all over it.

Scratches show up at night due to limited light refracting off them. So might be fine in the day but blurred at night which is possible sign of scratches.

What you need really is to compare against someone else’s/YouTube to check if what you’re seeing is normal or you have an issue.

Doesn't seem right to me... I'm switching from a 2018 Megane to a G22 and the camera in the 420i is a *lot* clearer - even in the dark - than the Megane's.
