I ordered my m440i in October, got a pretty good deal I feel. Today I spoke to Genius online and he recommended I speak to my dealer as the order is showing as cancelled. Anyone else had this? Obviously I paid the deposit and passed finance months ago, concerned they may rather fulfill orders with greater profit margins.

Will phone tomorrow but not too impressed.

I contacted Genius last week, informed that I now had no tech pack. Followed this bombshell news up with an email to the dealer, my SA explained it was cancelled by BMW themselves. Now been advised it has been added back on, apparently M performace cars will be supplied with HK, HUD ,Touchscreen... oddly though, extended luggage removed. Still showing week 20, expected delivery.

I've never heard of that before. My guess would be finance issues but I'm waiting to hear about the first person to have their order cancelled due to the 3/4 series being end of life. I reckon they will bring forward the end of life date for the non-LCI due to availability of parts. So I'd check with your dealer asap.

Turns out they've given it a different order number basically, at the moment all good for a March build!

Quick update on my order, which might help others, particularly if you had the order pushed back recently.

Ordered early Nov on an existing dealer build slot which was estimated for week 3. It bounced between 0500 (cannot be scheduled or something) and the original build slot several times throughout Dec, with the latest update last week being an estimated build slot sometime mid-April

Got in touch with the dealer to see what's going on, and after some digging, BMW AG had to apparently remove option 418 Extended Storage Contents (not to be confused with Extended Storage) which is basically the boot sliding rails and remote seats release (you still get the latch on the seats themselves to manually put them down). All cars with option 418 (which is part of both Comfort Packs) had to be knocked out of production schedules temporarily before being put back. Some came back on their original slot while others got pushed back, including mine. There is going to be a £280 credit for this deletion with code ZLU.

Apparently BMW UK is trying to do a national pull forward on 21st January. If they secure any earlier slots then some orders may be brought forward slightly which is why the above hasn't been communicated through the wider network yet. This obviously goes beyond chip shortages and it's a bit ridiculous how shortage of the most basic parts (sliding rails, really?!) is causing so much disruption. Apparently they are struggling with tyres as well. I guess this explains the driver side coin tray. Obviously this all ever evolving so current deletions could be re-instated while new ones might come up.

On the bright side, for now, looks like the touchscreen is back on (at least on my order) which I believe was already reported for other January builds. Not sure if this is across the range or only specific models (M340i Touring here). Fingers crossed BMW UK can bring some of those slots forward. I really want this car so will sit tight for now. Dealer also advised existing orders with a build slot are unlikely to be pushed for LCI as that will mean starting from scratch due to price and APR increase although I'm sure they could just cancel orders if they don't have a choice.

I'll believe it when I see if a car arrives with a touchscreen built in calendar year 2022. They've gone to a lot of effort to faciliate the touchscreen deletion with the software re-write so I can't see it dissapearing quickly.

The example of the extensed storage contents deletion again suggests to me that they're resisting buying good stocks of parts for a model which is approaching end of life. They'll strategically want to run the parts down before switching over to LCI.

Has anyone got any sniff of when BMW might actually open their order sheet for the LCI models yet? SOP is alleged to be Week 26 and the first ones out of the factory will likely be VIP & Dealer demos I expect. Running down part orders makes sense with a revised model so close now. That being said, spares must be available for a time period after EOL (was 10 years but may not be now).

Fingers crossed I'll know this week whether the lack of the deletion code in my VIN means touchscreen is in or not

Update, vehicle has left Germany........

Nope, 440i August order, built 9th November, still sat awaiting recall 0065640300, so at least February now
Looks like me and Z_victor1 have the same problem.
This may help Colliwobbles and others paint a little more detail into this continuing delay scenario.........??

Just got a call from SA this am (21 Jan).............
My car has left Bremerhaven
No more info than that, other than she said she'd call me again on Monday (24 Jan) with a further update.........

Background detail:-
As of now (21 Jan), the BMW Recall Info Tool shows:-
  • Defect Code 0065640300 Open / No Description
  • Defect Code 0065600300 Closed / Checking installation of amplifier, retrofitting if necessary
Significant timeline:
  • Order Placed 25/08/21
  • Prod date 22/11/21
  • Latest update on delivery was week commencing 31/01/22 (from Genius 8 days ago)
No further amendments (other than the previous 48Z & 6UY) to VIN readout show, but I didn't expect there to be, as that's cast in stone once chassis # issued (I think...!)

Sounds like progress. Didn't someone say that first recall code is the software update to accommodate the touchscreen deletion?

I have! Very happy with it so far thanks. I think it's the first new BMW I've had where I haven't found at least one fault on the drive home.

It's a bit quiet compared with the Z4 but if it's like my F33 440i it will sound better once it's run in.

Hopefully yours won't be too far behind.

I must have been quite lucky then.

Ordered end of Sept, Car arrived just before Xmas.

No coin tray

No touch screen, I wouldn’t have paid £500 extra for it as I never use it so not bothered by it.

I have no rails in the boot, but not sure the G22 is meant to have them, but again, have never used them, and not sure what they are for, so its not a major concern to me.

What I did get was Brooklyn Grey paint, M seats, and THE best car I have ever owned, so all in, I can live without the coin tray

watching and hoping

Ordered my first ever BMW back in August - G22 430i M Sport Pro , but have had numerous false delivery dates from the dealer since the original delivery date of 11th November, normally get told it's "shipping in two weeks..."
The latest is it will be arriving at the dealer on the 31st Jan...
Has anyone managed to get a discount or extra accessories out of their dealer as compensation for all the delays? Or do they just say it is out of their hands?

Basically the contract of sale allows for delays but I managed to get a service thrown in on a previous delayed purchase. A service costs the dealership very little in real terms but a good saving for you. Worth a punt.
