What is the current version of the iDrive for a 2019 3 series (G20)?

BMW puts out software updates in March, July & November; typically, these are initially available at dealers in month of release. They are also available Over The Air one cycle later. Included in these updates may be update to the HG_MGU, the electronic control unit which basically runs the iDrive.

So, to answer your question, 11/2021 is at dealers now & 07/2021 is out OTA

No cost, they update it all the time.

I just tell them it keeps resetting when driving 😂

Williams, been going there a few years so they kinda know me now but I'm sure they know I'm bull shitting them each time 🤣

Joking aside though I don't see any reason why they shouldn't do it as it sometimes contains critical updates for the system.
